Taylor Swift? I don't get it

I am friends with her long time bass player Amos Heller. I have seen them perform and hung out with them on a closed set rehearsal.

She gives her fans exactly what they want and she tours a lot. She makes money for every city she plays in. She pays her band, crews, staff and roadies handsomely. She is now worth $1.2 billion.

I can respect that.

When I was a teenager (1967 forward) my Dad was constantly yelling for me to turn down my stereo. I listened to relatively mild music compared to the heavy metal that followed. He always listened to music from the 1940's and while at that time I thought it was really "old fogy" music, I actually enjoy listening to it today.

I pretty much stopped liking most music that came out after the 1980's and can't deal with the music of today's teenager's.

Hey, different strokes for different folks.

(Not everybody loves the Delmore Brothers either....)

It's all good.;)

On February 9, 1964, I was a month shy of my 11th birthday, and stood transfixed by a mopped-topped quartet making their American debut on the Ed Sullivan Show.

My dad, 39 years old, with his US Navy crewcut, was horrified. "Look at that hair! They need haircuts!" he kept saying...

I suspect my grandparents were just as turned off by Tommy Dorsey and Glen Miller...

I can't name a single Taylor Swift song...and I'll bet her fans have never heard of Gordon Lightfoot...

Yep, different strokes... :)

Back in about 1987 Kylie Minogue burst onto the pop scene in the UK. She sang bubblegum pop that could find use in a CIA black prison to extract information. 35 years on, Ms Minogue is still going strong, is filthy rich, and probably has the best legs in pop. While I can only watch her with the sound muted, I still respect her huge success in a damned tough business.

Taylor Swift has managed to do the same. Good luck to her.

If Travis Kelce (a.k.a Travis Swift) doesn't straighten up she'll be the downfall of his career.
I've seen Kelce in various commercials lately. He wasn't at his best on MNF against the Eagles.

In Taylor's mind Kelce is just another line in one of her songs.

Kelce was drafted in 2013. I think you have it all wrong because he is taking care of his future.

Lets not forget the NFL stands for Not For Long as far as player longevity.

Shoulda said "his career with the chiefs". No doubt in my mind that she's in his head. Not talking league longevity.

Sometime around 1988 I stopped listening to new music. I was tired of the three year “new music style” cycle. Punk, Disco, New Wave, New Romantic. I didn’t bother to wait to see what the “next big music style” would be. I went back to listening to the rock’n’roll and top 40 of the 50’s, 60’s and early 70’s I grew up with.

It served me well for 30 years, until I renewed an interest in country music while in Nashville in 2018.

Today’s pop music bores me. 1 verse and a short chorus repeated ad nauseam.
