I bought mine with the guys that found them at Bud's Police. I said when they were available for a good price I'd get one.

I got mine yesterday and cleaned it last night. Quite a nice looking gun. Well designed. Double recoil spring is a nice touch. The trigger bar doesn't rub on the frame like the bigger M&P's. Very nice trigger.

I added a micro drop of oil to the moving parts of the trigger mechanism and I swear it dropped half a pound. Just a nice trigger. Far better than my other M&P's.

The gun is thin. It's amazing how a little bit thinner feels LOTS thinner in your hand. I like the longer magazine so far, but I haven't shot it yet. I'm just too busy trying to finish the house addition before Christmas.

If this thing fires as well as my 9c does, I'm REALLY going to like it. The fit and finish is top notch.

I can see why you all are so excited about this little wonder gun. I hope it shoots as well as it looks and feels.... ;)

And remember, I never bashed the Shield, just couldn't understand the hype... :p

I like the Shield trigger. Better than my M&P 9c and M&P 9FS. Also, IMO the recoil is less because of the dual spring guide rod. It feels almost like I'm shooting a .22lr with just a little bit more recoil, but not much. And it's very accurate at 10 yards. Right now I'm just waiting for my Ameriglo night sights to come in.

I love my Shield, S&W got it right.

If you have the extra coin for the Apex trigger....you will not regret it. NIGHT AND DAY difference!

Enjoy

Yup... As many of us wrote in earlier threads...
Those who don't understand the hype simply haven't had the pleasure of finding and trying one. ;)

I didn't know Bud's Police extended the 'Police' discount to Fire/Rescue as well. I'll have to check them out again. But... I've never been able to find what I want through them. (just bad luck on MY part)

make sure to dimple you mags and cat a coil off the 6 round mag spring and a half off the 7, or you may not be able to load them lol... ive had mine sitting since sept fully loaded and havn't dropped an ounce of tension. gonna cut another half coil off of each...

So I take it you got a good price. Now you just need to shoot it and let us know what you think.

Yup, $335 plus $20 for FFL and I'm out the door for $355.

Sooooo....

Today I ran out to my range and shot it. I just couldn't wait any longer... It was nearly dusk when I got there so I didn't have much time and I still had a lot to do before the day ended.

I took a hundred rounds of Speer Lawman 124g.

I didn't like shooting it.

I LOVED shooting it!! :D

Not a hiccup, smooth, tight, easy to shoot. Very accurate. I was putting 8 rounds in a 4" circle rapid fire at 25 feet. The recoil is well controlled, muzzle flip is minimal.

One thing I really really like is the safety. It is so easy to activate and disengage. Nothing at all like the terrible safety on the BG380 which is what it looks like. The Shield safety is perfectly placed under the first knuckle of my thumb and is easily flicked off or on with a simple swipe. It is even much easier to use than any of my third gens.

Take down is simple, the take down lever stays put and a pull of the trigger releases the slide. After shooting 100 rounds the gun isn't very dirty at all. I don't have many problems with Speer ammo, but the Shield seems a little cleaner than my other 9's.

It's still a bit early to gush over the Shield, but I must admit this is a very sweet little pistol. Easy to carry, easy to shoot, easy to clean, great trigger right out of the box, accurate, and so far dependable.

As far as I can tell, the Shield is a winner. Remember when I poo-poo'd about maybe being gun of the year? Well I'd cast my vote for it from what I've seen so far.

Next test: Shield and 3913 side by side, mag by mag, to see which is better, the new kid in town or the old favorite. I'll put stock shoes on the 3913 so both are factory.

S&W may have slipped a bit in the past, but I think they hit one out of the park with the Shield.

Lost Lake, did I see in another thread that you got your Shield in 40 S&W? If that is the case are they shipped with dimpled mags?

LL, if you been carrying your M&P's... you will love carrying the Shield. That was the biggest improvement I found. I haven't carried my M&P's since getting my Shield.. The little bit thinner and weight makes all the difference .

This is what i've been trying to tell the 9c guys. You cant beat the comfort of a Shield. Especially if u carry between 12 and 16hrs a day like I do.

After owning my shields, I have since then put most of my other pistols back into the safe. Although I do manage to carry my 1911 on occasion and of course this is mostly on weekends for a few hours or so. Nothing compared to as much as i carry my shield during my work week.

I never believed the Shield could be as nice as the 9c, but that may be changing... Like I said, I have to take them all out to the range and do a side by side comparison. My favorite gun is usually the one that has a full magazine and is in my hand! :p

So I will have to shoot 5 from the Shield, then immediately shoot 5 from the 9c and 5 from the 3913. That's the only way I think I can compare them.

For carrying I think the Shield will be impossible to beat.

"told you so" -every shield owner

just kidding, glad you like it and its nice to hear from someone who actually likes the safety. seems like most people are against having it, and i dont mind it either even though i'm left handed. when i first read about the shield the article said there was no way you would be able to flip the safety off similair to a 1911 (you would need to use your fingertip) but i've found it to be possible and yet not something that will be "bumped" on or off
