A guy in Laramie has a Remington 760 chambered in 270 Winchester for sale.
I don't "need" another large caliber rifle but the pump action 760s are sweet rifles and 270 Win is a great caliber.
Decisions, decisions..........

I love the 270 cartridge. Never shot one in a pump. My grandfather had a 760 in 308. That gun killed a ton of West Virginia whitetails.

I owned a .270 bolt gun for over 60 years; lost it in our big 2020 wildfire. Great cartridge; I replaced it with a Ruger No. 1 in .308, just because it was available. I do miss the .270 due to light recoil and the good terminal ballistics.

I say pass on it. The .270 ctg is a basically a one bullet weight ctg, the 130 gr. Greatly inferior to the 30-06 for a general purpose big game rifle. The 760 pump was designed to sell to the once a year Deer hunter who wanted a rifle that functioned like his 870 pump. Greatly inferior to a bolt rifle in accuracy and durability.

I understand the benefits of a "general purpose big game rifle", but variety is the spice of life! If you have the discretionary funds and the price is right, go for it. You obviously like the gun and you only live once!

I've killed a lot of whitetail and antelope with a .270 Win. It's also capable of taking moose/elk with a good bullet. I'm fond of Nosler Partitions. I almost always hunt with bolt action rifles, but did pick up a 7600 chambered in .270 a while back. Mine was dirt cheep and came without a magazine or optics.

They're nice guns, but the triggers can't match a well tuned bolt gun. I noticed that the magazine isn't shown in the photo. If it's not included, plan on spending $100 or more for a correct magazine. I've had bad luck with aftermarket mags. You can use a 740/742/7400 mag in a pump like I did. They're a lot cheaper than a factory 760 mag, but you won't be able to close the action after the last shot without dropping the mag or pushing the release lever on the left side of the mag. I'm still looking for a correct long action 760 mag, but I won't pay the going rate.

I have Rem 760s in both 30-06 and 270. I like them both, but find the 270 unbeatable for the longer shots I have across open fields while whitetail hunting here in Pennsylvania. Don't lose much against the '06 in the woods. I use 130 grains in the 270 and 150 grains in the 30-06. Get the 270 Rem 760. You'll love it!

Good lluck finding ANY 740/742/7400 mag for 270/30/06.
I am still tweaking aftermarket mags for both of my 30/06
7400s to get them to work 100%.

That was a popular gun here in Michigan. I've got a few '06 mags for the 742 that I picked up used and sold one at the last MAAC show.
