Thanks for the link. This is a cool gun, but the carry-comp is a little pricey for me. I'm hoping for a .327 in a standard type J Frame with a 3 or 4 inch barrel. Maybe someday.

I like the idea of the .327 Magnum. I don't think I like the tapered and slotted underlug.

The cylinder looks stronger than I thought it would.

Now lets see a .327 M&P 340 minus the dreaded feature.

Does anybody else wish the Gunblast videos were longer?

I read the article and what jumped out at me was the 9# double action and 2 3/4# single action trigger pull on a J-frame.

How can they do that? Can Performance Center do that and maintain dependability as far as light strikes go? If they can - I'll send my 340 in to them tomorrow . Can any good gunsmith do that without compromising primer strikes by using light springs? I understood NO, or I'd have had mine worked over long ago.

I've got thousands of clicks on it and it's very smooth. But my poundages are nothing like those. I've probably have double action well up in the teens and I know my single action goes around 5 1/2# which is considered fairly light for a J-frame if I understand correctly.

Did they use very light springs in this gun? Does .327 ammo use easier primers than all other ammo?

Why can't we all lighten our J-frames up to 9 and 2 3/4 pounds?

What gives?

I'm not in the market for a .327 gun. But I'm sure in the market for getting my 340 J-frame to those poundages.

Anyone have some input for me?

Likely due to it being ".327 FEDERAL".
Federal's primers are known to reloaders and users of light springs, to be the easiest to light off.
(EDIT) And, they might just be using the long F/P too?

I really like the gun, but am not sure I want the added expense of adding another caliber to the collection. Ammo for this round is hard to get and it is pricey, but I still like it. Excellent self defense gun.

I agree. If I had extra money to burn or was just starting out buying guns for personal protection I might interested in the .327. But as it is I have too much invested already in .38's and .357's and don't want to have to contend with yet another caliber. It's already annoying enough to make sure I've got the right rounds in hand and in speedloaders/speedstrips to avoid a mismatch.

Jesus, guys I paid almost $800.00 for all of the 16 and 631's I bought, this price is stupid!!! Now the accuracy on those is great and low recoil is a plus. I will patiently wait until I see one of these in my local pushers shop. Oh no, I am going back to Iraq in two weeks!! (I have spent four years there already). He He, my wife bought me a big safe for a X-mas present and did not ask why I had so many empty S&W boxes in there. It could not be from the 10 revolvers I bought from my last trip to the sand box??

I have been reading that the ruger is having some problems with the cylinders on these. Can't recall the details, but I may want to wait awhile to see if any bugs show up.
I assume you can also shoot 32 H&R Magnums in these guns like you can with the ruger.

I have the Ruger .327, and I think it would be a pretty stout cartrige for a J-Frame gun. I'd rather have a 7 shot, 3 or 4" K-Frame for this round.

Ruger did have a problem with the cylinders, but they are replacing them now, as necessary, and the new guns should be OK. I had to have mine replaced, and they had the gun for a month. When I told them I wanted a refund, they found and fit a new cylinder with amazing speed. Funny how that works, sometimes.

Just my opinion,but,people have been buying whatever is available
just to have a gun and the same with ammo.Late summer/early fall
is restocking time for the hunting seasons.Maybe in a month or so
inventories will be up to normal,but,most assuredly by October.

Tom M what type of problems did you have with the Ruger cylinder I have the SP101 in 3" an thus for no problems but not many rounds down the tube yet.

Not Tom but with mine the chambers were not consistent. It required too much force to eject the empties and the fired cases were not all the same size. Cases fired in some chambers could not be reinserted in other chambers.

Ruger replaced the cylinder in mine, I'm sure it's fixed now but haven't shot it yet since getting it back.

I have had mine since Christmas and like I said have not put many though it but as I remember did not have a eject problem. I will have to take it out next weekend and see.
