I bought an M&P9c a couple of weeks back. I had previously shot the full-size 9 and loved it. And what sold me on the 9c was the perfectly-sized magazine with the pinky rest.

Anyway, after the purchase, I was trying to figure out what to with the other short/flush-bottom magazine the comes with the gun...doesn't really help much for me with CC, and my grip is definitely weird with my pinky hanging. But the difference is just the size/shape of the bottom plate. I contacted S&W email support about where I could get another plate, and what do you know but the guy that answered offered to send one out to me for free! And simple instructions to do the swap (just poke a small screwdriver into the hole at the bottom of the mag, and slide the plate out).

Good stuff..thanks S&W.

They are top notch. I needed a screw for my sight and S&W had it to me in two days. Great support

Yes they are terrific! In January I sent my new M&P45FS back because the trigger bar was rubbing, and the trigger was gritty. They returned it within 3 weeks with a smoother trigger and 2 new mags!

They are good. Never had a problem with my M&P 9c but had to send them a .357 revolver and had it back in a week with no charge and a new cylinder.

I have nothing but good to say about S&W customer service. As long as they keep that up and keep putting out quality firearms like the M&P that I love so much I will always support them.

They have always done good by me when I needed them.

I'm hoping that when my experience with the S&W Customer Service is done, it'll be a pleasant one. Right now it's not going so well though :(

You see I am enslaved to the state of Massachusetts who has determined that even though I was given a Large Capacity License, that I can only have a handgun that is capable of holding 10 rounds.

I had purchased an M&P9 Carry and Range Kit (FS, which depresses me because I'm losing 7, but this isn't about Massachusetts) a couple weeks ago. I immediately took it to the range and loaded each magazine to the fullest. Unfortunately that fullest was 9 rounds. I called S&W and they said that I'd have to let the magazines sit loaded for a couple days. I did that (loading/unloading them at least three times per night to give the spring some work) and eventually I was able to get 10 rounds into the magazine, however I then couldn't get the magazine into the gun with the 10 rounds in it. I had to slam so hard on the bottom of the magazine that it actually dented the round. So I called them up again and they said that I could send them back and get them replaced.

I did a quick search online and found out tons of people owning MA Compliant M&P's were having this problem, and that there were ways to modify the follower to make it work.

I sent out the Magazines on Monday (May 2nd) with a couple pictures showing the damage done to the round and explaining what I did and who I spoke with. It was signed for at 10:30AM on Tuesday (May 3rd). It's been almost a week, and I still haven't gotten them back.

I have to call them when I get out of work today. I'm hoping to get the magazines back by the weekend because I've only put 100 rounds through the gun... I want to put more through it!

Good to hear they took care of you. I was considering doing the same thing because I have no use for the "flat" mag on my 40c. ;)

Similar with my 9c...the 10th round (yes, I'm in Mass, too) just barely slides into the mag with a hard press and push. It's getting better, but still tight. I don't think it's the spring resistance. It feels like the mag is just "full". Strictly enforcing the 10 rounds, I suppose. Or could it be tolerance differences with the ammo? I use WWB.

Everything I've read about it was that they recently changed the design of the followers and that if you have a magazine with a number stamped into the follower it won't get better unless you modify the follower yourself.

Also the more I think about it the more I wish I got the Compact just so I would be close to a normal humans capacity

Roymond, when I sent my revolver in I didn't get any notification for return. It just arrived by UPS about a week after they had it. Had a letter inside describing work done.

I've heard of many others with the same experience. No real notification. Hope that's the case with you too and your mags will show up soon.

My father contacted Smith and Wesson (we both have been ringing them all day). He sent me an email saying that I'll be very happy but it's going to be two weeks before I get em back...

Sucks a bit... since I bought the gun on April 21st, and have only put 100 rounds through it. I want to spend more range time with it!

I've dealt with S&W for many years. I can say that their customer service has been outstanding whenever I've contacted them.

SW's customer service is second to none. Fantastic!

Anyone looking for pinky rest floor plate replacement for the 9/40c mags- they can be found at Midway for $2. Sure others have them for similar $. Cant beat free though!

Well my issue with S&W is resolved as far as they know.

They sent me 3 new mags as well as 3 additional mags. Unfortunately they all still have the issue where they can't take the 10th round without some serious force. I'm just going to keep working them and maybe modify the followers myself so that way they take the tenth round.

Here in the great state of NY, our politicians have protected us from ourselves by also limiting mag capacities to 10. The 10th round into the 2 mags that came with my M&P9 took quite a bit of "oomph". They've either gotten easier or my thumb is just stronger! :D

S&W customer support

Well my transaction isn't complete yet ...but so far their service has been superb. Had a couple issues with my weapon...3 ftf's, irreg trigger, and mag safety which would allow firing to take place with a mag halfway inserted.

Tues I called them, Wed I had a pre paid -shipper and tomorrow they will have my weapon...according to Fedex.

The guy I talked to on the phone was very understanding and helpful...He assured me the weapon would be well taken care of and I'd be notified when done...Lets see how the gurus at S&W hold up...but so far I'd rate them at 100%. Not pissed about the weapon...I've worked in assembly my whole life so I know even in spite of the best quality control...stuff happens.
