The 5 Best-Selling Handguns of 2016

The P320 with night sights is $550 and has a trigger that makes the
M&P feel worse then it's reputation. Very short take up
crisp break and an actual short tactile reset.

It was good enough to sell off my Apex equipped M&P9 FS

That's about $150 too much for what it is. I really don't care about the tactile reset. If you'd ever seen Jerry Miculek shoot a box stock M&P you'd realize how little difference a trigger makes. It's humbling.

Well, I'm no rookie & I think it's very well priced. Right inline with Glock,
It's main competitor.

M&P's are losing value, I've seen new
FS for $375. In the end, on the interweb
we all have an "opinion"

Same can be said for grip angles

Not really. No amount of practice is going to make an awkward grip angle comfortable. Everyone's hand is different.

Glocks are also over priced and the Sig Sauer is a much better pistol than the Glock. It's odd the Glock get's those prices because it's so popular the Sig has to because it's less common. My opinion isn't an "opinion". It's what I think based on my experience and my needs.

So, you said this...........

I really don't care about the tactile reset.

But in the past, you said this......... hmmm

I consider the trigger reset vital. If the trigger doesn't reset I may as well be using a flintlock.

And as far as Jerry Miculek goes........

If you'd ever seen Jerry Miculek shoot a box stock M&P
you'd realize how little difference a trigger makes. It's humbling.

I actually spoke to Jerry on the phone. His wife Kay answered the phone
and I asked her if I could speak to him.
I asked about why the Pro Series triggers were not as the
catalog described them (PC center work)

Well, what do you know, the pistol master actually took my call.

He said it's been a real problem with the M&P triggers
& striker blocks. He really does miss the 3rd gen S&W semi-auto's.

Hands are different for sure. I prefer the Glock grip to the Sig 320 or the 1911 but I have no issues shooting either. It's not uncomfortable or unnatural. Holding the same grip, the sights are not that far off. Not pointing to the floor or the sky. From thickness changes and the sights may point slightly left/right. But again....they are on target.

Grip angles are not that drastic and many other guns have the same angle. Ruger MK, HK P7....etc..

Aside from physical limitations .....actually practice IS what helps.

I've had several Glocks.

Carried a G23 for 10 years
Owned 2 G23, 2nd gen G19, G20, G21

All great pistols, but the speed bumps / finger grooves on current
production is a deal breaker for me. Big hands and thick fingers
don't line up well.

And wile I thank the member above for his service in the Navy
I don't like his adversarial attitude.
What I think any pistol I buy is worth is my business and it's
bad form to criticize another members choice of pistols and
what the are "worth"...

I was a glock fan had a bunch on them almost every single model from gen3 to gen4 don't consider myself an expert but definitely like to try as much guns as I can. One day handled the M&P and that was it for me I sold my glocks based purely on grip comfort, plus hated the new finish on the gen4.

I liked how the M&P felt on my hand that didn't care much for the trigger that's why all my M&P (5) have apex teigger kits. Had a sig p250 nice gun horrible DAO trigger one of the best comfortable grips I have tried, same grip as on the p320.

Yes, the P250 trigger is bad, I should have had you check out
my P320 yesterday. You would have been surprised having
handled Glocks & M&P's.

Maybe we could meet up at that Bass Pro Shop range soon
& you can shoot it.

I have been strictly a revolver guy for over 50yrs but this last couple of years decided I needed to familiarize myself with semi auto's . I bought a Sig P320 subcompact in 9mm , then later converted it to a compact 357 sig using the " x-change kits " from sig . It's an easy conversion , comes right to your door step ( no ffl required ) . I truly am in love with what I have now . Very comfortable in the hand , easy to shoot and " dead nuts " spot on accurate . I also have a S&W 45 M&P compact , but had to install an apex trigger kit to make it a keeper .
BTW: 357 sig is NOT difficult to reload , as some will lead you to believe. I started out with " once fired " range brass and bought the 3pc LEE die set, added the FC die . Yes , I have to lube the cases before sizing / depriming but reloading is a hobby / sport so it's not an issue . We did that for years and years till the carbide dies came along . So , IMHO it's an easy cartridge to reload .

I have my doubts regarding "minorities" buying guns out of fear of the new adminstration ( as suggested by one of our contributors to this thread). There might be a few falling for the lies, but on the giant whole, most Americans aren't arming themselves for the coming persecution by law abiding citizens, but rather against criminals who don't really care (or know) who's in government.

All ya'll worry and think too much. I've done OK with my revolvers and shotguns for 65 years. I can't fix the world , just remember K.I.S.S. and 'Stay off my lawn".

So, you said this...........

The trigger reset is vital. If the trigger doesn't reset the gun don't shoot. It just doesn't need to be tactile. You missed the joke there.

I never said the M&P triggers were wonderful, or even nearly as good as the Sig Sauer although Travis Haley isn't a fan of the Sig trigger. Something about having to take out the slack after a reset. You'd have to ask him I suppose. Anyway what I said is you can shoot them just fine if you take the time to learn. No striker fired gun has a really good trigger. It's not the way you want a striker fired self defense pistol to behave. Unless you're really fond of Glock leg. My M&P with an apex kit is still cheaper than a Sig. It's a matter of preference.

Had to laugh a bit at the G19 being described as a backup gun. Maybe backup for your rifle? I have visions of it being toted in some sort of ankle holster. I'm sure someone could pull it off, but I don't wear bell bottoms. Anyhow, interesting list.

A bit of fail in the article, but at least it didn't seem to have the typical anti slant. Especially like the part of the Glock 19, introduced in 2010.

Missed that by only a few years in the space-time continuum as it was originally released in 1990.

The article says the GEN 4 Glock 19 was introduced in 2010. That seems about right. It did NOT say that the G19 was introduced in 2010.

The article states "The Smith & Wesson M&P Shield, which was introduced in 2005, is a lightweight, concealable pistol which is encased in a polymer frame."

S&W M&P line came out in 2005, but the Shield was released in 2012.
