The best 66?

The model 19/66's are some of the best all around handguns Smith and Wesson ever produced. I prefer the classic blued finish of the model 19's. Yet for daily use the stainless model 66's have a great deal to offer.

Nice, my early morning observation skills tell me I see a 624, but I may be off. (66?)
No, it's definitely a k frame. Look how close the top of the cylinder release is to edge of frame. There's no gap, you'd see a gap on an n frame

SWCA #3132

I would rather have a model 65, but we take what we can get.

I prefer the 3" HB, RB, fixed sight guns. I sold my 66-2.

Except for the Model 66's forcing cone I might agree that is one of the best S&W revolvers.

I can't disagree that the problem exists, but I have a no dash that has had thousands of rounds through it without any problem. IMO, it is one of the best.

It comes in at # 3 in my top 10................

#1 is the 3 inch 66........ w/ Spegel Boot Grips!!!!!!! :D

#2 is the 4 inch.....................

#3 is the 2 1/2 inch .............

Now if the 3 inch guns didn't exist; and I didn't have a couple, then the 2 1/2 would jump from #3 to #1.

Saw the new 2 3/4 inch 66 yesterday... have to say I was a bit 'underwhelmed"

:D

I have never owned a 2.5" gun until March of this year. Bought a 66-2. It certainly is not perfect, but good enough for me. Oh, did I mention that it shoots quite well? Also have a 2" 10-5 R.B. I put Herrets on both of them. Bob

Here's one of my own favorites, a 66-3 that's had a little work done to it - both inside and out.

Jerry

Nice, Jerry! I've never seen polishing like that on the cylinder, but I'm sure that's an enhancement to the overall action. Besides, it's kinda cool looking. :)

Great pair of banana stocks on your 2 1/2" too!

Yes I agree Sodacan. I admire my ND and -2 shorty. Are they the best? I don't know-personal preference I guess. For sure one of the best. IMHO.

I have the same 2 guns (my 66 is a no-dash) and both have the same Herretts I shoot the 66 better than any other gun I own.

My wife went to the academy with a 66-2, me a 686-3. She is much better looking than me so the 66 wins.
