The car you wish you still had.

My dad owned a lot of interesting cars, including a couple I wish I still had: a Jaguar MK VII, and a 1949 Buick convertible. I have never owned a car that I couldn't live without, but I wouldn't mind having my 1965 Alfa GTV, a 1750cc Bertone-bodied coupe, but it would have to be in much better shape than mine was. The bike I wish I had never let go was a '57 BSA DBD34 Gold Star.

My old 1979 Bronco with disco paint scheme and shag carpet in the rear.

The one I would really like to have back is my '67 Plymouth GTX w/440 Super Commando. I bought it 1979 for $1400 off a used car lot in San Jose, CA. It only had 47K miles on it.

Honorable mentions:
'68 Camaro Rally Sport w/327
'56 Oldsmobile Super 88 2dr
'66 Corvair Monza convertible
'73 Pontiac Gran Prix w/455
'91 Jaguar XJ6

Of course there's been a ton of other more mundane cars, trucks, and motorcyles.

These days I've got a Land Rover Discovery II, a Saab 9-3 Arc, and a Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder. I'm 3yrs and 2 weeks from my 50th birthday, when it gets here I'll be trading in the Spyder and buying a Corvette convertible to replace it, a C5 or C6.

1969 bright yellow Boss 302 Mustang. Had it from 1973-83, Owner installed options like .547 lift Crane cam, 12:1 pistons, 4.30 gears, headers. All my buds who drove SS Chevys were very inpressed with that car.

Actually you need to shoot yourself for selling that too soon

The one I didnt own but wish I had. My favorite batchlor uncle came home from the war and bought a black 36 ford coupe. Rumble seat too. My folks borrowed it once to take a trip from wisconsin to arkanasas. There was no back seat and the folks put small footstools in the back for my sister and me. I still get the hots everytime I see a 36 ford coupe! One time my dad, mother, a different uncle and aunt all went to a country bar. My mothers brother was in a big drunken fist fight in there as they entered. Dad and his brother got in the fray too. Dad busted things up and put uncle eldon on the road in his 36 ford coupe. Uncle eldon ran out of road, hit a power pole and pulled down the wires over the car. He sat there and who should come along, but one of the guys that was beating on him! (coiencaly a cousin of dads.) The guy started to open the door and uncle eldon hollered at him he could get electrcuted! Things were wild when my family all came back from war! It was a lot like that for several years as I recall.

My first car: a 1993 Ford Tempo!

It was my first car... I bought it in high school and it was in pretty good shape. More importantly it got me where I needed to go and gave me my freedom. So many good memories involve that car.

Sadly.. when I went away for basic training... then tech school, my car mostly sat in my driveway (even though I requested it be at LEAST started once a week). When I finally got to take it out on my first leave, it only lasted maybe 3 trips then died. Sigh......

LOL! My best friend had one of these.
We called it the Maverati.

It seems like I was helping him replace the front end / radiator just about every week. He broke the windshield with his head at least twice. He was chasing my 455 T/A on a curvy dirt road one day, when we got to his house both headlights, and both blinkers were smashed out from flying stones. He always seemed to have her fixed up by the next weekend though. It was like the Timex of cars.

Fun memories...

Wow, I had a Maverick 302 also. We bought it brand new. I think it was a '76. Dark metallic green with white vinyl. LDO (Luxury Decor Option) included fancy wheel covers, deluxe gas cap, pile carpeting, tan vinyl buckets and white vinyl side mouldings.
It was actually a very nice looking car but not as fast as you'd think. The emission controls of the '70's really bogged the power down.

I would love to have the first car I bought the summer I graduated from high school(1969). It was a 1964 Chevy Impala, 2DR hardtop...or better yet, the pickup truck my dad had when I first got my licenses. It was a 1950 Chevy 3100 5-window. Living in the city back then, it wasn't "cool" to drive a truck. My dad and I were the only drivers in the family so I always had wheels when I started dating.

My current ride is a 1970 Dodge Challenger RT/SE 440 SIX PACK with a Dana rear end I restored from the ground up. My handle 4406v is for 440 six venturi

I've had about 25 old mopars in the past, this one is the one I'll keep forever.

My car I wish I still had is not a classic like most in this post but here goes. I wish I still had my 2004 Chevy Impala. I had turbo charged it and it had close to 500 hp. It rode good, got good gas mileage, and looked good. It also pinned you back to the seat when you floored it. It ran high 12's in the quarter mile. But alas, a 16 year old girl pulled out in front of me and I t-boned her. It totaled the car. I do miss it.

I'm just not all that taken with the Challenger. Lots of little nit picky reasons. I guess they're nice but I doubt there's one headed my way. Who knows, maybe in a couple years they'll grow on me.

Joni, I was not so taken with the new Challenger either (especially after Dodge totally missed the boat with the FOUR DOOR CHARGER!) However, I recently drove my sister's '09 R/T Hemi Challenger and was very impressed. The ride, build quality, handling and performance are awesome. My brother in-law had a '72 Challenger and said the only thing in common between the old car and the new one is the name. And it has 4 tires. Now with the uncertainty of Chrysler's future who knows if the Challenger or any hemi car will survive.

2 cars I wish I still had were;

#1 my blue 1966 Chevy Impala SS convertable w/ 396 ci engine ( won a lot of street races with this one because guys were too stupid to look at the markers on the front fenders and thought they were racing a 327 SS)

#2 I traded my Impala for a new 1970 Hemi Cuda! Up at Union Gove Wisconsin I would regularly do high 12's low 13's in the 1/4 mile with street tires. I sold it in the gas shortage of 73 for $1800 dollars.

I want to shoot myself when I see what these two cars are selling for now!

2 cars I wish I still had, my 1965 Chevy Impala S.S. 327 4 speed, and my 1960 TR3. Thanks Larry

Had a '68 Plymouth GTX...440. The only car that I'd ever bought new. Would pass anything but a gas station as I recall..... can't say that I'd want it back with the price of fuel now.

I miss my 1970 T/A Challenger but it would have been a problem if I wanted to drive it a lot. It attracted too much of the wrong kind of attention everywhere it went.

Maybe I'll figure out a good modern replacement for it one day. (not the new Challenger)

Joni, I too was the proud owner of the Challenger T/A, mine was green with the half vinyl roof, sorry no pictures available. That was a lot of car back then. I remember how stiff the gas peddle was, with that six pack under the hood. Too bad I didn't have the forthought to have kept it, have you seen what they have sold for on Barrett Jackson-unbelievable! Could have purchased a few S&W's with the proceeds. Take Care.
