Nicely done. I know this stuff happens everywhere, but it sure seems like you get a front row seat most of the time. So, did they find the cooking supplies in the trailer? Think they might get a court order to burn the durned thing down? I know that wouldn't solve the problem but it would improve your view!

This guy doesn't have the guts to try anything with me. I wish he would. I'm always armed and he knows it. I keep my eyes open anyway. He's not the only enemy I've ever made. Apparently his sexual preferences involve children in the 7-8 year old range. That's what he was convicted for anyway. Mix that with crystal meth and a host of zombie like visitors and he's not someone you would want to call your neighbor. He's public record. If you want to see what he looks like google up Mississippi sex offenders and look up the name Maurice Ricky Sharp. Then go to your state registry and see who's in your neighborhood
I agree with the above poster. For someone to have to register for the rest of their life for something they did as a 17 year old with a willing partner is just not right and needs to be changed. I know one guy who has to register and he's been married to the girl in question for over 20 years.

Yank, she's in her last term as Circuit Clerk and he's the fleet /service center manager. They are both retiring at the end of this term. I took them some eggs yesterday.

It used to be that a judge had discretion on application of the law but that is happening less and less. Maybe that's a good thing, maybe not. Maybe your acquaintance could lawyer up and get the conviction vacated. Either way, I agree the law needs to be changed.

I hate child molesters with a red rage. We've lost 3 little girls in the last year from molesters in Iowa. I would cheerfully put a bullet in their heads if I could get away with it!

Mr. Maurice is 5'4" and 145 lbs., blue-eyed, ginger haired, and 57 years old? No, he doesn't look like much of a threat. I'd think that few child molesters would have much in the way of guts, no matter what their size.

You did good and thanks for that. I've worked now with two child molesters that you would have never known. It's for the most part a secret crime that instills the most damage. I too wish there was more than a prison sentence for them.

I had one threaten to do that to me when we were having a General Court in this jerks case. The jerk also represented himself and his case fell apart as fast as cardboard does when its been soaking wet awhile. He was screaming when he was being dragged out of Court saying he could easily find where i live by using the Law Library Computers (and thankfully then Gov George Bush changed that) and the Judge asked if I wished to make a final statement to the jerk but said I didnt have to. I said I would like to and said: "Show up at my doorstep and my friends and I (my friends meaning: Colt .45, Walther P-38,and a few others) would be there to "greet" him.
That was over 14 years ago and he has not shown up at my place.rburg

Its kind of amusing when people suggest they have good neighbors, the go on to wonder about Charlies. The simple answer is that Charlie is more attuned to who he lives near, and has a much better source of information. The bad news is if we have neighbors, some probably have unsavory records. And then come the ones that haven't been caught...yet. And its not just child molesters. Crooks are all over. If you don't believe me, leave something valuable out overnight. See if its still there in the morning.
We have a web site called "Jailtracker.com" that has public access. Its just arrests, but its fun to watch. If you know your neighbors names, you can go back about 15 years. For a long time I just reviewed the weekends arrests. Kind of shocking. Even young adults I knew had much worse drug problems that I realized. And now I know why a few of them vanished for a year or two!
The child molester thing gets overworked. We've just discussed the instances where an 18 YO gets caught with his 17 YO girlfriend. Some states wink at that, others just refuse to prosecute. A friend of a friend got caught up on one of those deals. He'd been meeting this "hottie" all summer. They kind of ran in the same circles and would get together on weekends. She always drove her mothers convertible, new at the time. Everyone just assumed she had a drivers license. She went where she wanted and drove. Pretty strong indication she was at least 16 and she told everyone she was 18. So one evening they went to a "bonfire party". And she drove as always, as did the guy. But they got a bit drunk and spent the night in his pickup truck bed. Her mother realized she hadn't come home and went looking. Then she called the cops. He had just turned 18, she was actually 15. She just took her mothers car when she felt like it, and no one cared. But the mother insisted they prosecute. He'd raped her little darling even if she was an active and willing participant. It was ugly.

This creep (now dead) started at age of 16 pistol whipping a 15 yo paper delivery girl. I don't have to tell you what I would have done had I been his first victim's father.
