The Circle of Life (Update #44)

My condolences. Even when you know it's going to happen, it's still a terrible thing to go through.

I lasted a whole 2 weeks after my Pit Mix Gus was put down at 14+ due to prostate cancer(Vet thought that was what it was)that was "everywhere", before "just looking" at a load of mutt pups a friend's ex-gf had to find homes for.
Gus as an "old man", with his buddy Orville, who would go a year after he did at about 17:

I had planned on putting deposits on 2 Greater Swiss Mountain dogs, but instead I got two Doberman/Lab/Husky? pups. King was super smart, but almost everything you tried to get him to do was a negotiation. He just didn't care what made me happy. Kind of frustrating, but a very entertaining dog. Sister Molly was a nervous wreck most of the time, but in the back yard, she was a great huntress who killed a lot of Possums, Groundhogs, a few rats, a BEAVER, and nearly killed a Raccoon who only was saved because a neighbor's kid grabbed her tail. He would meet his end the next day being tested for rabies. King on the left with Mom and Molly, early 1999. Mom would pass away about 5 months before the dogs did. 2012 was a very bad year for me. Molly went the same day as a friend of over 50 years did, and King went a month and a day later.

So sorry for your loss[emoji120][emoji120][emoji3590][emoji3590] Prayers and hugs for you and the family. It's always hard to say 'bye to a much beloved dog. We have a 15 year old Papillon who's stable and doing ok and a 7-1/2 year old Papillon who was recently diagnosed with a very bad heart but is doing well so far on his heart meds. I may have a very bad month soon, but it's hard to tell what may happen. Till then, we make every day a good day and share as much love as we can with Logan and Jackson. Welcome to your beautiful new pup! [emoji3590][emoji3590] Jackson's the 15 year old red and white boy and Logan's the black white and tan 7-1/2 year old boy with the bad heart.

What a forum.

USPS delivered a surprise package from a member who wishes to remain anonymous. He enjoyed the thread and especially the pics of Bear.

He makes dog chew toys for fun and to give to friends.

We are touched by random acts of unexpected kindness.

Sorry for your loss . I've put down more than my share , and it's never easy . The last one , Sandy a wire haired terrier , was a lover . Our vet came to the house with his assistant . He put on some music and put Sandy on her bed . We sat with her , holding her and hugging her . Doc sent her off and left us alone to say goodbye then took her . He has a special place he buries people's pets , you can visit if you want . That afternoon I was heading south to pick up our new Aussie puppy . Between your post and mine , the tears are flowing......
