The Complete 3rd Gen Model List

Hey skjos, I just found another model it is a 469 frame marked pistol in a box marked 4690 all 3rd gen characteristics, it is not a RSR serial numbered model, I have a letter ordered from Roy.

Awesome find, looking forward to hearing more about it.
I'll update the list when Roy gets back to you.

Still waiting for Chief-wahoo's letter, but in the meantime I made miscellaneous updates, including adding the interim and pilot models discussed in his thread "http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-wesson-semi-auto-pistols/425847-my-non-rsr-transitional-family-growing-pics-added.html".

Hey Skjos, received my letters and seen you have the product codes same as mine, but I have different prefixes,
My product code for this model is ; 103719 model #6450 (TBW)
Model 6590 TBS Prefix,,
Model 4690 TBV Prefix
Model 4590 TBY Prefix,,,
My latest purchase is a model#7450 product code 103906,,
As far as number of units produced Mr Roy did not provide me with any, but recent Blue Book states 100 units produced in 1990 with adjustable sights

On the 9mm single stack 4" pistols, (3904, 3906, 3944, & 3946) you show their magazine capacity at (8) rounds.

I understand that the early models came with mags that only held that many but they were later changed so that they held (9) rounds & was the only size offered in the end, as well as for the later model 909.

The 3.5" barrel 9mm single stacks (3913/3914/3953/3954s) had (8) round magazines.

The (8) round 4" & the (8) round 3.5" pistol magazines however are physically not the same.

Would it be possible to change the magazine capacity listing for 4" models to read "8/9 rd", showing both sizes & avoiding any confusion with the 3.5" model's mags?

Thanks again for putting this list together & maintaining it for us.

.

It's been awhile, but I've made an update to "the list". I've included a revision section showing what has changed.
.
As always, if you have some additional information please share it and I will (eventually) get it added.

We can't say it enough here: THANK YOU, skjos, for the great service you provided, and provide, this Forum with your ongoing projects for the production and Performance Center Third Gens! What amazing contributions they are to this hobby that we all enjoy!

Just want to add my thanks for posting this. S&W made so many models it's nearly impossible to keep track of them all. Well done!

I didn't see it , but then my wife says I'm half blind anyways . How about a 4536 ?

Update on 6944 - I have found 4 in the TZB serial number group that SW says were made in 1993 with a Product Code 108138 with curved trigger guard. Range is TZB6740-TZB6778-TZB6813-TZB6817 though there is no guarantee that all the in between numbers were 6944. Also I have found photos of TVD examples with rounded trigger guard.

I think it has been around a year since the last list update, look to the revision description for updates.

If your browser is pulling up the old version of the list, you will need to clear your cache or wait a few days for your cache to update.

The file linked at the end of the original post is a sortable Excel version of the file.

As always keep the information coming.

So the list for the 3954 shows barely 500 made? That's crazy! I am lucky enough to have one with the box and papers.

Also I noticed that the 457D for CPD is not listed as another member mentioned.

And wowzers what a great job on this list!

Not sure if you want to add, but the 1086 was issued to the wspd for a short period and that's where most of the 1660 produced went

Holy ****!!!!! As you I am lucky to have one box and papers. I put 2 mags through it. Previous owner ran about the same through it. Guess I'll have to send in for a letter from S&W for it. And my 457 D also.
