Down to my last carton of small pistol primers and last carton of large pistol primers from my pre-panic hoard.

Good news! I made it through the current panic pretty well. Never had to resort to the grossly inflated marketplace.

Bad news! Now I will be replacing $20 to $30 cartons of primers with $50 and $60 cartons. I'll just have to live with that.

Primers at 5 or 6 cents each, pistol powder charges at 2 or 3 cents each, cast bullets from salvaged lead (call it a half-buck per pound to cover recovery and casting costs). A few sticks of bullet lube per year. My pistol range ammo will now cost me $4 to $6 per box instead of the old days at $2 or $3 a box.

Inflation! Beating me to death here!

Yeah, it'll be come to alot of us that are in your shoes. I'll probably run out of LP waayyy before SP. Maybe I'll end up trading those someday.

Inflation means nothing to me. The government takes care of me. I just got news of my Social Security COLA for next year.

I am very happy. My SS payment to me went up by 3.17%. Of course, my Medicare payment back to them went up by 7%.

Humm...maybe I can buy a box of 50 rimfire cartridges next month.

Well I don't get SS. ..but didn't pay an awful lot into it...fire dept and ... working out of the country and all...but still supposed to get 2% this year. Oh and have to pay medicare too. Luckily I still have a few 1000 primers from a few years ago. Found two boxes of CCI LRPs priced at 93 cents and another 1/2 box that was priced at a dollar 5 cents. I am pretty flush on new stock primers as I've been buying when I see 'em on sale...if 58-64 dollars is on sale.

Well, I have a bunch of Ginex & Argentine SPPs to go through before I need to look at any alternatives...

Actually, both have worked pretty well in all the various calibers I load for the range: there were a few that just required a 2nd hit (and the CZ seemed to ALWAYS fire them, eventually) and very, very few (less than 3 out of 8K, or so) that just wouldn't go off at all.

I have experienced that with all the "major brands" (Winchester, cci, Remington) as well, and probably not at a significantly higher rate, either...?

Cheers!

P.S. In my experience finding large rifle primers has been the most difficult: they still are not what I would term as being "readily available"...

Same here and another great reason to reload. $4.99 a box

Where are you finding....

.... primers for $50 and $60???? The best price I could find was 7.5 cents each coming to $75/1000.

I had to give up on centerfire guns a few years ago, right before the shortage and sold all my primers at $30 per box of 5000, I had over 50K primers and boy were the guys happy to pick them up.

I can still shoot .22s and have what I consider a life supply on hand now. At 72 who knows how many good years I have but I'm going to revel in all of them.

I just can't fathom spending over $100 per box of primers. Now at 50 - 6o a box they are still too expensive for my limited income.

At 78 I too have rediscovered the great .22 LR ctg. I have a number of .22 caliber handguns and long guns, some that have gone unused for several years. I currently have about 30K of .22 LR that I have accumulated over the last thirty years. I had forgotten how nice it is to be able to shoot in my own backyard and not have to load any ammo or save cases.

Recently paid $64 OTD for my first brick of post-Covid CCI SPP's. Guess I should feel lucky. Guess I should buy more. We got an election just around the corner.

Fortunately, Ive got plenty of primers, powder and bullets from pre-panic/big inflation days. I just don’t have a lot of time to reload, and find it more of a hassle than fun like it used to be for me. Maybe just a phase… I find that I go through phases of interest in reloading. I love being able to have any and all the ammo that I need, with the accuracy that I want, whenever I want it, but I’ve got other things in my life that takes up my time (I like my wife, my kids are still young, etc.)

So, for the past few years, I’ve been doing a lot of .22lr shooting. Inexpensive to shoot, and frankly I usually find shooting .22s more enjoyable compared to my large caliber guns most days. 9mm is pretty cheap to buy, and while I can still reload it for less, it’s more convenient to just do store bought stuff right now. Most range trips lately have been three or four .22 handguns, and a few .22 rifles. I’ll also shoot 50 or 100 rounds of 9mm through a couple/few handguns. Sometimes I’ll bring a .45acp and/or a .38/.357 or a .44 mag with my reloads, but not very often. I dragged out an AK and a .308 the other day, and that was fun. But, I’ve got some nice .22s to shoot, and they’re easy to enjoy.

Nobody around here....

....carries primers in quantity, but I'll keep looking. If you find a good price on the web you still have hazmat fees and shipping. Dammint.

Sportman's Warehouse has them, limit two boxes That's boxes of a hundred.

I'm not sure where all of you are getting your primers, but mid pandemic I paid $74/1000 for SPP. Best that I'm seeing now is $80-90/1000, if they are in stock.

LGS has none, or still at $20/100.

Ain't rampant inflation and product shortages great? Some of it is due to people hoarding primers and powder that they will never use in their lifetime. Gotta love those people too!

Feel for everybody. I still have 30K SPP & LPP on hand and enough powder to keep me going. Have about 60K of .22's. Should be set for a while.
