The First Three Cars You Owned

i run a printing press. aything i get smells like the chemicals, inks, etc within weeks. and i usually manage to get ink onto the seats, even with seat covers, because of this i don't buy anything new and "nice". 10-12 grand is my upper limit.

My Dad ran presses for the News Paper. He took a change of clothes with him and they had showers. No mater, He still had to wash his own clothes. He'd bring them home in a clean piece of paper and the whole house would stink.

My first car was a '65 Buick Skylark, white, just like the one in Labworm's photo. Next was a '68 Pontiac Bonneville and finally a '73 Mercury Marquis! What a boat that thing was. Like going down the road in a rocking chair!

But that was to boring so I paid $1000 for the truck , it did a good service to me and I did not care of getting scratches

I personally have only owned 2 CARS so far...

An 04' Saturn Ion Redline (first car out of high-school)

I bought a GSXR 1000 during College and rode that for a long time mostly to impress girls (not a car)

Now I have the 2013 Ford Escape Titanium after realizing where I live a car isn't practical, and I love that I have room to haul BIG THINGS!

And I guess I can count this too since I pay for it... my wife has the 13' Honda CRV, which is a pretty cool little entry SUV.

Don't have pics of the actuals, but my first three were;
1974 Plymouth Satellite. Mine was metallic gray with a 318.

1980 Chevy K-5 Blazer. Mine was dark red with a 350.

1971 Chevy Malibu SS with a 396 big block. This color.

I bought my first car @ 14. It was a '68 Mustang with a 351W, then at 15 my dad bought me an '87 IROC Z that had a special metallic blue paint then dad got worried and bought me a brand new Freaking Ford Festiva! He was afraid I would be out racing them....now being a father I understand his worry @ the time I was rather ticked off...lol. But since then have had over 30 different cars/trucks. But the one I miss the most is my Mustang Cobra! The memories in that car, man the memories...(won't go into details but you all know the memories I am talking about lol) Sold the Cobra when wife became pregnant with 3rd kid for a freaking mini van!....maybe one day I can replace the Cobra but you know how things go...with 5 kids and daddy's wants/needs always come last....

Owned my 1963 Merc back when i was dating my wife....Blew the tranny driving her home one day. She said " Guess we won't be going to the Drive-In" tonight. My answer was, "Why not, I still got reverse". Drove that night 5 miles in reverse back and forth to the movie. Drove like that for two days, till the local police put a stop to that. Still got the wife, wish i had the car.

My first car I drove in High School was a 1968 Chrysler Newport, called it Mopar power. It was big enough for the whole gang to party in.
After I graduated I sold it and got a 1975 Toyota Corolla SR5. It had a hardtop, fastback style and had nearly a 50-50 front to back weight ratio. I rebuilt it for racing around on country backroads. It had full ground effects, fender flares, custom tubular grill, a modified and lowered suspension, 5 speed manual transmission, 4.30 rear, alloy rims and low profile tires. It was painted a dark metallic Imron grey and had blacked out trim. Inside it had black denim seat covers, 4 point racing harnesses, a Pioneer Logic control AM/FM Multiplex stereo cassette player with a 7 band power booster equalizer playing through Jensen Triaxl speakers.
The engine was mostly stock with a 390 cfm Holley, no heat riser, an open element aircleaner and open hood scoop. I also removed the smog pump and the a/c. I worked at a Toyota dealership at the time and could get parts at cost and get mechanics to work on it for beer. Muffler? nope, just a straight pipe connected to a header and exiting in front of the rear well. I had a lot of fun with that car and I wish I still had it. Future plans was for a high performance double overhead cam, dual sidedraft engine and racing it at Sears Point. I'd get what I called a 6 pack inspection, give the inspecter a 6 pack and he'd give me a sticker.
My third car was my everyday driver. A 1981 Toyota Corolla 2 door sedan. I drove it when the weather wasn't nice enough for my SR5. Unfortunately reality set in and I had to sell them both after I totalled the '81 the second time trying to drive it like my SR5 and had to get a nice practical car for running around to classes and work.

I found a pic online, This is how it started out. By the time I was done with it, it was very much different.

I feel like a young'un

Reading about you guys driving cars made when I was born makes me feel like a young'un. I drove the family '63 Ford to start. The first car that I paid for was a 1974 AMC Hornet, my wife had a 1973 Plymouth Station Wagon that was a family car. It was a behemoth and got too expensive to keep on the road. I mean the water pump was as big as an engine today. #3 was the first car we bought together and was an 1980 Mercury Bobcat. If you don't count the Plymouth that was my wife's the next car we bought was a Mercury Topaz, a car that kept me in poorhouse for years.

1 1964 Corvair Monza
2 1961 Buick station wagon (a tank!)
3 1965 Ford LTD 2 dr 352 disappointingly slow, wish it had the 390.

Not my photos but you get the drift:

#1 1958 Nash Metropolitan (couldn't keep the brakes working)

Metro.jpg

#2 1962 4 door Chevy Impala (nice car - 283 v8 2 spd. auto)

1962 Impala.jpg

#3 1966 Olds 442 Holiday Coupe (fast but a gas guzzler - took all my money)

1966 Olds 442.jpg

Then I got married....things changed and the cars changed - cars no longer took all my money - she did!!:(

1988 Chevy S10 2.5L 5 speed manual 4x4. Got it in 1990 and sold it in 2008 with nearly 200,000 on it and it would get 27mpg highway, It was stolen in 93 so I had to figure out how to start it to drive it home with all the steering column ignition switch damage from the impound yard it was towed to when they found it.
Next was a 2000 2wd Chevy S10. Traded it in 2005 for #3
2004 Chevy Silverado 5.3L extended cab, needed back seat for kids. In the driveway now.
So I've only had three in my life.
