I've always considered the 357 Magnum, and its successor, the Model 27, to be the "flagship" of the S&W revolver line. The old pinned and recessed models were finely fitted, and elegant with their checkered sighting plane on top. The 8 3/8"-barreled jobs were and are superb long-range shooters, perfect for hunting medium and small game at a distance. I'd have to call them the "crown jewels" of the flagship line. Recoil was negligible with these babies, even with full-house .357s. The only choice, to me, was whether to get one in blue or in nickel.

So I made the choice - I eventually got both! I still can't tell you which of 'em I like the better. Either way, I've got that dilemma covered! They just don't make 'em like this any more.
Both are 27-2 variations.

Those are some fine six-shooters! I agree that they are the top-of-the-line for S&W. Thanks,

Jerry

The Model 27 is my all time favorite S&W revolver also and I have every barrel length except the 6.5 inch. That's a beautiful pair of 8 3/8 inch barreled Model 27's that you have there.

Nice looking pair that you have there! I like the 3 1/2 inch 27 best, but like you said, it is their "flagship" revolver. Any 27 will make the owner proud. :D
