That is one of the nicest S&W's I have ever seen, thanks so much for posting the pics and info. I know it is a collectors item but I would love to shoot this one
Six years late I researched this revolver shipped to Robert Wadsworth. It was made in S&W's Repair Department from scrap and was not to be counted in their inventory. Robert Wadsworth was an acquintance (perhaps friend of Harold Wesson).
If the owner of 62489 contacts me, I have a couple of interesting documents about this revolver.
Gripper - if Robert Wadsworth of West Hartford is indeed the guy, then his full name is Robert Hart Wadsworth. It appears he and his wife were social A-list people, she being selected to design and sculpt in bronze the memorial statue to Connecticut founding father Thomas Hooker at the Connecticut State House, they were often mentioned in society pages, he was a West Hartford City Councilman for many years, an executive at the Travelers' Insurance Company, entertained often, had house guests who "summered in the Hamptons", etc. I wouldn't be surprised if a wheeler dealer, mover and shaker like him knew, or had a friend who knew somebody in S&W management.
I subscribe to Newspapers.com and can send you more clippings if you like.

It's a small world - she went to St. Catherine's School, which is just down the road from me in Richmond VA. [They met when she moved to Hartford], according to the article, but he went to the University of Virginia, was active in Delta Psi fraternity, so I wonder if she moved to Hartford after meeting him in Virginia?
