The last gun you purchased in 2009??

I had to think about this for awhile. The last firearm I purchased was in mid January of 2009. It's gotten to the point that I'm not foreseeing purchasing a firearm in the year 2010. I have a Winchester M70 that hasn't been fired in over eight years. It's odd to me that this occurring. There are also other firearms that I haven't touched for years other than storage maintenance. Maybe it's the beginning of the end of a lifelong indulgence. This would really be a change.

A new production Winchester Model 70 in 308. It's the Extreme Weather SS. Light and I like the fluted barrel. Preston

Last gun purchased in 2009 was NIB 4566TSW w/3 mags, box, papers, lock, spent casing. Scene in bottom of pic.

Can't show pics yet. Need a better pc and the knowledge to do so. But I did buy the S&W Mod 14 4" 1958 .38 spec. Was a big let down when I was told it has replacement grips. A friend told me the originals would have had the diamond screw holes in them. They looked in such great shape and I didn't even think about it. I also picked up the Mossberg Persuader 12 ga. 20" 7+1. Haven't fired it yet. I bought a box of 00 managed recoil shells for HD. I think they are 1200 fps.

The last one for me ----1962 Ruger Blawkhawk Flattop--357 Mag. I bought it on the 15th and had surgery on the 19th. Maybe next week I'll get a chance to shoot it.

I bought a ruger six six bisley in 32 mag (from one of our forum members) on Dec 30th, met him in the grocery store parking lot and started counting $20.00 bills. Put the revolver in the safe and headed back to Iraq.

I made of ton of guns buys in 2009 and sold quite a few to but my last purchase was a Browning A Bolt in 223 topped with a Bushnell Elite 4200 3x9x40mm scope. It's very accurate and a kick to shoot and ammo is cheap.

I bought a 1975 Royal Blue Colt Python with a 6" barrel and an original Dirty Holster from Buchmier. I always wanted a ventilated rib gun.

... drool ... envy ...

My last purchase for 2009 was also my first S&W purchase: a 642 snubbie with the CT grips. I'm keeping it in a Galco Ankle Glove mostly, and sometimes on my hip in a Bianchi 100 IWB.

I desperately needed an "always, no questions, completely invisible" carry piece. I've toyed over the years with various .380 mouse guns and a couple of 9mm subcompacts. But the 642 has been whispering in my ears late at night for several months, so I "allowed" Santa Claus to bring me one ... after all, I've been a good boy this year, right?

I liked Ruger's LCR too, but while the LCR may "be as good as" the 642, it certainly is not better. I figured I'd go with the old-time pro instead of the new rookie.

Mate the 642 with the Ankle Glove and no one knows I'm carrying. I respect the .38 +P round as well as the 642's reputation for reliability. The little red laser in a dark room at 3:00 am is a plus too. As a SHTF/CQC gun I also like the instruction manual: "Pull trigger. Bang."

The trigger is heavy but smooth for out-of-box. The nice thing is that as the trigger smooths out my finger will get stronger and more controlled, a win-win.

I doubt this will be the last S&W I will own.

2009 may have been the worst year of my life. It sucked greatly on many levels.

I bought just one gun in 2009, and maybe I shouldn't have bought it but it made me smile: a beautiful 1950 Target in .44 Special, 6-1/2 inch barrel, high polish blue finish, in the original gold picture box. I got it from a gentleman here in the classifieds.
