My dad bought this Mauser Model 71 (1871) single shot in the 50's. It came with a box of 11MM Mauser paper patch cartridges. They are flatnoses for the subsequent 71/84 repeater version of this gun. The bore is MINT. Serial number 69XX. One big chunk of gun and the great grand daddy of all Mauser rifles.

I've look at a couple of these, and if I remember correctly, there was a an article in the current or last issue of Man At Arms.

I meant it was the start of comercial/military Mausers. Not German rifles in general. Not being a Mauser expert, maybe they did something prior to this. But I think this was their first one.
