The Most Famous Person You've Met

I know this will show my age but:

Admiral "Bull" Halsey

Gene Autry - a jerk who wouldn't sign an authograph for a 5 year old kid (me)

General Westmoreland

Col. Jim Land - who reinstituted the Marine sniper training after WWII

Carlos Hathcock - didn't know who he really was until years later. All I knew was he was on the Corps shooting team with my brother.

Stan Musial

Arnie Palmer

Bobby Hull

Elmer Keith - Asked him to authograph a copy of his book: "Hell I Was There."

Bud Walton - Sam's brother. Turkey hunted with him in St. Joe Missouri

Arte Moreno - Owner of the LA Angles. Viet Nam vet and known as the most successful hispanic in the U.S. I worked with Arte for years.

Shook hands with Wayne LaPierre at a KSRA function once. And Rugskipper, I worked with Dennis Rader (BTK) for a time at ADT, like you said you wouldn't have had any idea, he had murdered six people by that time.

I played high school football against Randy Woodfield, the I-5 killer. He was an exceptional athlete, just a homicidal maniac. He had a gorgeous sister too.

I don't know anyone famous or important.I wouldn't tell anyone if I did.

Almost forgot, also had a beer with Kenneth Starr in his pre-Monica, Solicitor General days.

You ever wonder how many famous people you might see, maybe even casualy talk to, should reconise and dont? I can think of at least three times I was informed later. I think its because you arent "programmed" like say if you were around a studio or whatever. Once I was in reno playing BJ late one night flirting with a good looking blonde. Just her, me and the dealer at the table. Later I was informed she was nancy sinatra. When I was a kid in wisconsin in the 40s we had a school trip to the capital at madison. They had us watch legistlature in session. When we were leaveing a kind old man engaged me in conversation for awhile while everyone else was running for the bus. One of our chaperones come back to get me and told me that "old man" was govenor reninbaum.

I spent a couple of hours with Mohammad El Rahid, the Iraqi that risked his (and his family's) life saving Jessica Lynch.

A genuinely nice guy.

Charlton Heston in London after a showing of The Caine Mutiny . . . I have his autograph somewhere . . .

Had to do a search to find her. At first I thought she was an actress in the movie "Lethal Weapon" but quickly realized she didn't use the last "L" and was a different sort of actress (Letha Weapon). The PG-13 rated photo that accompanied the info didn't leave any doubt as to how she got the name.

Didn't I say that she was impressive, or at least a couple of things were impressive. I believe she's retired now. The only time I saw her "acting" was a brief appearance on Married With Children.
