Don't you just love it when when you have to find a new Dr or
"They" call you this Sunday, like my eye Dr did, and advise me that monday's eye appointment had to be canceled because of ..........

You wait 6mo, or a year to get new glasses and they cancell
one day before you get into the chair.

So I waited until the office opens and ask them if ANY of their Dr's
has an opening in the LAST week in January, for an eye exam?

One would think that they would rescheduale, on the cancellation call,
but oh no, these Dr's and their help, in these times, don't think that this is needed, now.

( don't get me started )

Anyway, I ended up getting an eye exam, by a new Dr in a different location in town, in two days.

Just the other day my "Regular" Dr's office called me to let me know that he was not with them any more.

Playing all the "Insurance games" and fringe benifits, these days
for Doctors, must be quite the game?

My sleep doctor recently retired and offered a number of referrals, so I spent some time on the phone today. One couldn't get me in until July. Another quoted mid April. Their doctors only work 2 days a week.

Jeez Louise, all I need is a script to get C-Pap supplies that run out next month. Fortunately, I found a new doctor who can see me on Feb 12th. After the first visit, he'll do telemed.

Some nice folks called me to let me know my warranty was expiring but didn't seem to know on which vehicle.
I keep getting phone calls from companies offering extended warranties on vehicles that we haven't owned since 2018. Even the vehicles we bought in 2018 have new owners.
I make sure no women or children are around when I reply!

I simply reject ALL unknown or "possible spam" calls, then I do a reverse look-up of the number, simply "google" it. Nearly 100% of the time I get a result similar to this:

I see that you are also a Navy vet. I have a question: Why in the world would you be dealing with a Pay-for-Misery insurance company when you could be getting free health care from the VA? Contrary to the many "stories" you may have heard about VA medical care, their current rendition is top-notch, which I can attest to.

Although I also have Medicare, I have never even pulled the card out of my wallet. I've had numerous surgeries at the VA hospital, all with satisfactoy results. As for eye care, they have been the best that I have ever had, including cataract surgery and vitrectony (Extraction of vitreous fluid to remove a boat-load of floaters... I couldn't even focus with with my shootin' eye. I'll probably get the other eye done with the same treatment later this year). With those two procedures, I now have perfect 20/20 vision in my right eye at 74 years. And if you wear glasses, you can get one pair per year... all for zip!

Whatever floats you boat, though. I just don't understand why so many vets do not avail themselves of this great service. It's not like we don't deserve the care, ya know.

Not all vets qualify for VA medical benefits.

Had a daughter in a anorexia clinic in Philidelphia. Her treatment was going nowhere so they asked us to come withdraw her from the program. We had appointments set up for a Monday but they called our Montan home, @ 6:00 AM to cancel because the directors child was ill. This was 2001 when only 20% had cell phones. Mine was listed but home was the one they called.

I have no idea how they expected us to return to MT and wait an extra day. We were flying back that night and did so with our child.

I fired my last CPAP Doc because he kept saying I needed a new CPAP machine but could seem to provide the required paperwork for the medical supply company (They rolled their eyes when I mentioned his name). After three months of back and forth with no resolution, I called his office and said he was fired for incompetence. His fault, staff's fault, no matter. Gone.

Something's going on. My primary care doc, my urologist, and my cardiologist all retired at the end of 2024. My eye doctor transferred me to another doctor in his practice, so he may be retiring, too. Only my dermatologist, who is fairly young, is still with me. Definitely makes you wonder.

Must be nice to live somewhere that you can fire a doctor and get an appointment with a new one inside three months. You keep your medical temper on a tight leash in Nevada, even in Vegas.

There are good and bad VA's...........

and all have good and bad doctors. in their field.

Some fields are better treated with more qualified "Outside" doctors.

I went to the VA Reno eye "shop" in 2020, and will never be back.

Saw my kidney Dr last week and he informed me that he was getting out of active practice for awhile but I received an appointment as usual in 6 weeks with him telling me someone would would be there to see me. One can only hope.
