the Rainbow Bridge

Done that so many times already, and our almost 14 year old whippet Petra is going through liver issues and kidney failure. Only a matter of time.

I am sorry for your loss, but she is in a better place and will be waiting for y'all on the other side.

All of us who have lost pets can empathize with what you are going through. May your pup rest in peace, and be waiting for you on the other side.

So sorry for your loss. As you probably recognize, this is a forum of animal lovers and we all know how much it hurts, but you did right for your old friend. I am sure you will see her "on the other side" and she will be happy and healthy once again.

Sorry for the loss of your beloved family member. She lived a long full life. I love the Doberman breed, extremely smart, courageous and loving. We’re on our third Doberman now. We lost our black & tan Doberman, Trixie, 3 years ago. She was 13 also. Never easy but they live on in our memories.

My wife and I have had nothing but Dobermans for the past 40 years. They are so lovable and loving. Evey one that we have lost has torn our hearts out. We have one, a black and tan male, left. At our age, he will probably be our last.

You know the breed quite well then. We have one blue Doberman left, Max about 6 yrs old. He’s across from me, asleep on the couch as I type this. He’ll be our last one too probably. A good friend and my old beat partner from the SO bred Doberman’s and always gave us the pick of the litter. Again, we’re very sorry for your loss.

I found a copy of the original Rainbow Bridge. Thought others might like to see it.

The Rainbow Bridge (inspired by a Norse legend)

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.

For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.

They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.

For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.

The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together.

I know it doesn't make yours less, but, I am sure we all have felt and feel some of your pain.

One of life's great tragedies is that the pets who give us so much love have such sort life spans.
