As Mark Twain said, "Were exagerated" but for a couple of days, it felt like it might be touch and go.

I came down with a cold the first of the week which finally got so bad, I went to the ER Thrusday Morning. Normal "cold" stuff. Headache, sniffle, cough, sneezing, and a sore throat that felt like someone took a rasp to it. (I couldn't eat or drink it hurt so bad to swallow.) Doctor took one look at me and said "it's either Strep, or Covid." She poked and probed me, took blood, sweat and tear samples, and left. About 30 mins later she stuck her head back in and said "It's Covid."

Ok...Ok..the Jokes not so funny now. Maybe this stuff was real after all? :o

She gave me a prescription for Paxlovid, another thing I'd made jokes about, but by the time I had taken the second dose, I was starting to feel better.

It's been a couple of days since, and I'm feeling better every day. Still weak, with no real energy, but I think I'm going to make it a little while longer anyway.

Pay attention boys and girls. This stuff will kick your butt.

It CAN be a small deal.......

...or it can be a very large deal. It depends on the virus and the physical make up of the victim.

Have you had covid before? I'm curious about building immunity.

Mom is dealing with it and Covid pneumonia at the hospice facility. She spent a few days in the hospital getting a four course IV treatment that kept the symptoms to a minimum but is really knocked down on energy. Thankfully the flu bug I caught three weeks ago was not Covid but as my sister and I have been telling each other, it is just one damn thing after another the last six weeks.

Take it easy and get better.

I’m glad you are on the road to recovery! Covid is making a resurgence this summer and I actually know several friends who have contracted it recently. It can be life threatening.

I’ve had it a couple of times. The first time I had good results with the Paxlovid. The second time I didn’t even use Paxlovid. Both times I was very tired for over a week after the symptoms went away. Get lots of rest and stay hydrated. Best wishes.

In the past two weeks, there have been a bunch of cases around here. It appears to me the Petri dish set (kids) are swapping it at the community pool and then bringing the gift home to their parents.
At my age and decrepitude, it scares me in spite of having two vaxes and a booster. The one time I've had the stuff about a year ago, Paxlovid was like a miracle. One day of really sick, then the next day, all the symptoms disappeared except for being weak and dog tired for a week.
