The Rifleman Star-Johnny Crawford has died.

The young actor was known for playing Chuck Connors son in the ABC series 'The Rifleman' from 1958-63.

I kinda feel like I grew up with Mark, I mean Johnny. Notice how he always had that same warm smile all the time, and not just on the show? I imagine he was that way all the way. Just imagine if mankind would smile like that, better place maybe.

Now that I'm retired I get to watch a couple episodes of the Rifleman a few times a week. He was always the perfect young gentleman in his part as Mark McCain. I was just too young to remember the show back in the day other than the opening scene. I had the cap gun with the little flicky thing to hit the trigger when shooting like Luke! But, we've talked about this more than once on this Forum! RIP, Johnny.

Knowing my love for these characters of my youth, my wife sent me the news via email.

As others have stated, I also believe Johnny was a genuine 'Good Guy."

It's a shame TV shows like that aren't allowed anymore. Back then guns were not shown in a negative light, and perhaps not coincidentally they were not used nearly so often in evil ways. Perhaps the power of suggestion is behind how the landscape has changed. Off topic, I know, just lamenting The Rifleman and similar shows not being made anymore.
