The Road to Tinkhamtown

The OP said old guys would understand.....I'm old but I guess not old enough. Good story though, thanks for sharing it.

I remember reading Cory Ford in Field & Stream many years ago. His "Minutes of the Lower Forty" was the first thing I turned to. And I was just a shirttail kid.

Somewhere or other around here I have a book "The Best of Cory Ford." And a couple of Gene Hills too.

Now that I think of it, Gene Hill wrote a similar story about an elephant hunt.

Beautiful, but today I found it hard to read.

I hope my brother, my fishing and hunting partner for a great many years, made a journey like that as he left us.

I hope I can too.

Here is a photo of what I believe is the old dirt road to the long abandoned Tinkhamtown. I need to add going there to my bucket list. I would love to photograph the area and maybe hunt Pa'tridge.

It was a story by a good man about how he wanted to leave this world and his Heaven was what he loved and his old friends. Makes a lot of sense to me, read the story again and think about it. I ain't scared anymore.
