Hi:
I watched the move "The Seven-Ups" last night. What type HUGE grips did the lead "Seven-Up" have on his S&W Model 36 ? The grips appeared to be oversized "K" frame grips modified for a "J" frame ? I wondered why this "Seven-Up" just didn't carry a Model 15 2" if the Model 36 was too small for his hand ?

I just watched it for the the first time a couple of weeks ago. I can't believe I'd never heard about that car chase. Did you guys happen to notice that bad guy driving the car is the same guy that drove the Charger in Bullit? Turns out that he was a stunt driver named Bill Hickman.

Kinda hard to tell, but I'd guess Herretts. The bad guy in the movie used a 3 1/2" 27,btw.

I have the Seven Ups movie. Classic gritty 70's. I've always felt the same way about those giant Herrett's grips on a Model 36 and felt he should have a bigger gun with that size grips. The bad guy was better armed, but it didn't help him much. Driver Bill Hickman was also right behind James Dean on their way to the coast to race. They were caravanning together and Hicks was first to reach Dean a couple minutes after the wreck. We drove to the intersection a long time ago and stopped to absorb the history there that has created such film lore and made James Dean eternally young.
