The Sig-Sauer P220

Have had three of these fine guns. The one I have now it of the same vintage as yours but with the nice classic looking spur hammer. The P220 is a great gun. I had a P220ST with he early sport rail. Being a all stainless steel gun it was heavy and I did not enjoy shooting it as much. The classic P220 I have now is a keeper for sure.

We use the Sig 225 (9mm) in the CDN service. Kinda' replaced the Hi-Power...and what a breath of fresh air in the accuracy department!
Fired my first 60/60 with it. Great weapon...

Great roscoe's!

I've had mine since early '87. Like you I use it for my "nightstand" gun and for much the same reasons.

Mine is of course a W. German version with the stamped slide.

From exotic specialty reloads of all bullet weights and shapes and mild to wild +P, it has never failed to function.

I defended my family with it one dark and lonely night on a camping trip. No BG's were harmed, no shots fired - didn't need to. They saw the business end and decided that it looked a lot bigger than normal with a maniac holding it and bugged out.

I, too, shoot my 220 far better than my 1911.
It seems to point more naturally, and have never had any problems with the ammo I've fed it.
A tad bulky for carrying concealed, but I've done it.
Perfect gun for OC, range use, and defending home and hearth.

Joni Lynn - Have you tried the 200 grain round nose flat point? I've had great success with that bullet. I reload with Unique, 6 grains works for me. You may be surprised as to the realibility and accuracy of the 200 grain RNFP with six grains of Unique. WG

Great gun! I have three of them, all in .45acp (a standard DA like yours, a P220 Sport in all stainless with the compensator, and a two-tone SA model). Love the ergonomics except for the slide lock. The DA pull is a bit heavy, but is miles better than the HK USP that I no longer have.
All you S&W fans need not be concerned, as this pales in comparison the the number of S&W's that reside in my safe.

What's CDN? Canadian Customs? Navy?

I have a 220 that I bought in '95. It is dependable and deadly accurate. I also bought one of the 220 ST' s, several years ago, Shoot it you will enjoy it.

Another Sig 220 fan

I carried one on duty for a number of years. I like the ergonomics, and it shoots where it's pointed for me. I got the chance to buy it when I retired and did. No regrets.

Beauetienne, the holster looks familiar; could it have come from the same department as mine? It looks like an LSP issue duty holster.

I have one that was too big for me to shoot comfortably, then I picked up a set of slim grips from Top Gun Supply, and it fits like a glove,

absolutely reliable, and very accurate,

Sig makes a very good pistol

Good eye, xk31. The pistol and holster are LSP trade-ins.
