The Tale Of The Driveway Alarm

Nice, interesting read, m1gunner - The first system was returned to Dakota, they changed something in the transmitter and returned to me... same problem: false alarms every few seconds. The one thing I did not think to mention to Dakota is that all my utility lines are buried - phone, electrical and TV, at the back of the house some 30 feet away from the transmitter, some 70 feet from the probe -I wonder if this may have been the problem. Thanks for you valuable info.

infrared beam

Have you considered using an infrared beam transmitter and receiver, such as those used on garage doors to stop the door closing on a child, pet, etc.? They can be mounted high enough off the ground to eliminate being broken by an animal, but will detect people and vehicles that cross through the beam. Something to consider since you have had little success with the other systems.

Thanks, shaggist - If my current rubber hose system does not work out for me, I will consider the beam thing - it must be wireless, however.
