The U. S. Postal Service...............

The USPS truck passes our house daily. The daily USPS email informs us of our daily mail deliveries. Our mail box contains deliveries on Tuesday, Thursday, and some times Friday. We have had tracked mail "Out For Delivery" for 5 days from local post office. We live 3 city blocks from the post office building.

I had ONE timely delivery. An Unertl scope went from Augusta, GA to Oklahoma City, OK in 3 days. The receiving company was not open on Saturdays. The package was insured for $1,000. I showed the postal clerk a GunBroker completed auction with a winning bid of $1,025. She did not question my insurance request. Total postage was about $22.

I don't deny anyone else's experiences, but my own in perhaps a dozen or so locations has been that USPS is near 100% reliable. One ridiculously delayed delivery in over seventy years.

I have not had the issues the others report here. I have no doubt there are employee issues - there has to be with such a large organization. But in my book they still do an admirable job.
Their home package delivery has increased tremendously with all the online shopping.
I do get annoyed with the counter clerks being occupied with passport applications and renewals while there is a line of customers waiting and only one out of two other windows open.
My letter carrier hates his new mini van he has a hard time reaching out to the box because the door is in the way he can’t lean out like the old jeep. He has to get out and go open rear door to reach packages. He is probably correct that the bureaucrat who made the decision to change their fleet never worked a postal route.

UPS has its' moments too. I bought 10lb Hawaiian coffee in Toronto Can last week. It went to California, Detroit, and is currently leaving Baltimore, Ohio (I didn't even know had one). Should be here Thursday unless I get an email changing that. Maybe there was something in the box the coffee smell covered? :) Joe

The letter carrier (do they call them that anymore?) delivering to the kiosk ( new to me, always had a box out front) is great. Now if we could only get the inconsiderate residents to empty the parcel box at least every two weeks the carrier would not have to waste time going house to house to deliver the parcels.

I live in a rural area. My post office is in back of the little country store. Never a line. In and out quickly. Some years ago, I was talking to our mail guy and mentioned he seemed to be running a little late. He said 'yeah, I had to stop and help (name omitted) hang his deer". Things are a little different here.
