The ultimate Highway Patrolman thread.including N frame ser# ranges

Am I reading correctly? I have a 28-2 numbered N104600. Does this make it a 73' ?
I am also considering having a high polish re-blue done, would this be a bad idea for value?
Thanks for any input
Kevin

Highway Patrolmans Rule! (28's)

Beautiful Stuff Guys! I have a 28-0, 6". S serial #. 1960 approx. Great shooter! I think about trading it once and a while. Then I handle it, shoot it, or even look at it, and can't do it! Just as well!
I have a set of original diamond targets for it as well. Don't want anything to happen to those!
I will get around to some fancy pics eventually! Bob

I just picked up N157xxx yesterday. A 4 inch, and while not a beauty queen she is all mine.

Hi guys. New to the forum here and my first post. I'll dig into the ser. # later with "The rest of the story" as old Paul Harvey would have said but I have this 28-2 HP in satin nickel with a wood presentation box. It belonged to a local sheriff who wanted my wife's uncle to trade his AR for it and the rest is history. He gave it to me last Thanksgiving and needless to say I have been giving thanks ever since! :^D Question. If it is indeed a satin nickel original what would it be worth in today's market?
SN #N568XXX so that would put it between 1978 and 1980. Anyone have an idea of the value? And did they come with the satin nickel in the wood display box? Thank you!

According to SCSW 3rd there was only 5 satin nickel 28s shipped....if it letters satin nickel it's worth ALOT more than that AR:D. More photos may help determine if factory or after market Satin nickel. Is cylinder and frame marked with "N"?

Thanks dotdsd334. The cyl and frame are not marked with an N except in the serial #. I have had the gun apart and if it isn't a factory job whoever did it knew what they were doing as it shows no sign of ever having been blued. I loaded more pics. Please let me know what you guys think.
