I just picked up another one! A 6" serial N571481 from another forum member here Bigtubby. Haven't shot it yet but seems like a great shooter. Just need to find a set of Magna's for it now.

Very nice indeed. The stocks are particularly clean. Were they original to the gun?
John
John,
They are bookends on the bottom which is sort of unusual for later S&W stocks IMO. Usually I take the stocks off before buying a gun, but didn't this time because they were tight. After getting home with the gun, I took the stocks off and they had a price tag with $35.99 on the inside. So, I think they were bought sometime later, but I still believe they are '70's vintage, probably newer than the gun itself. Any ideas?
I am most interested in following up on the "salesman sample", nickel 28 pictured in this thread. A short while ago I acquired a 28-2 also in nickel, asked about it on the S&W forum and was told that there were no "salesmen samples" made using nickel. Mine is #N274610, in excellent condition but the original owner passed away years ago and I have no means to establish its history. Can anyone provide me with the number or even date of the one in the picture? Thank you.
Inside of the stocks and the box. Only thing that is illegible is of course what type of stocks it shipped with. Honestly, it doesn't look like the same pen that wrote the rest of the info. Any ideas?
Are the front sights pinned on the 28-2 or is it integral with the barrel? I'd really like to put a Patridge on my 6" instead of the red ramp. Thanks.

Okay thanks imashooter2. Mine sure looked one piece but wanted to be sure. It has RR/WO sights that I'm not fond of and I really prefer the looks of the Patridge. Thanks again!
