Leatherhead23, sheriff deputy(friend of mine) owned and carried the twin to yours while on duty here. Always thought I'd try to trade him out of it to go with my blue 27-2 with 3&1/2" barrel but, it stuck like glue to him. Nice gun!

I have the pair of 3.5" 27-1's.....I love pairs!

My nickel one is the only nickel 27-1 known. In any barrel length.

S&W model 27-2

How goes it gentlemen? I have this gorgeous model 27-2 with 3.5 in. Barrel and i was trying to get it appraised but the appraiser could not get me a definite answer due to the fact that my gun didn't look "normal". First off, it came in a box with purple interior. The grips were not stock and did not match the sn of the revolver. They also notice that my front sight had a gold bead instead of stock.. ive contacted smith and wesson but was not successful. Please advise.

The fitted case is an aftermarket piece. . The front sight was replaced with what I believe is a Brass Bead McGivern-style sight.

I have looked in my files, but cannot find the maker of the case, I'm sure someone will come along soon with the answer. All in all IMHO although a premium is placed on a 3 1/2' Model 27-2 in original condition, the condition of yours, with the changes would be about $1300-$1600 depending if the buyer is really interested in the fitted case. +- $250-$300.

As Mr Jinks would say " I hope this helps"

I don't know if this will work. This model 27 is online in a few places. It gets my vote for the ultimate model 27.

Here's mine, one a -2 with 3 & 1/2" the other a 5" Skeeter Skelton -5 that actually started life as a -4. I bought the 5" at a Kankakee county Illinois fair grounds gun show. The first owner tried to remove the barrel(for whatever reason) and split the frame and didn't want the hassel of sending to S&W for rebarreling. So was bought for discounted parts price? When I sent it to S&W repairman(one of the Italian brothers(no ethnicity slur intended) called and told me over the phone that only frame available was less than perfect finish(one of the many blotchy blueing jobs, back then). So. as I had bought it as a shooter, so be it.

Don't bring up these old threads, especially about anything to do with a model 27, unless of course you are telling me they are bad guns and I shouldn't be scouring the countryside looking for one. Especially a 27-2 blued with a 6" barrel.
