I brought out my 3.5" model 27's yesterday to see if there was one in the bunch I was willing to let go in a trade I was working on. I think I have to keep these.
The three on the left are 5 screw guns. The three in the middle are 27-2's. The two on the right are 27 no dash. The round butt gun and the one with the fake ivory's are a bead blast blue. I think they look sharp.

Very nice! It's not easy to acquire a collection of 3.5-inch 27s like that in California. I'll bet you did some driving!

My third 3-1/2 inch 5-screw arrives Friday. Is there any hope for me, or, am I destined to develop the full-blown syndrome, as you obviously have? Please, is there any hope at all???

A "Model of 1950 Pre-27". Dates to 1952 per factory letter. 3+7/16" barrel. Excellent mechanical condition. Wear at the muzzle, the front of the cylinder and frame below the barrel, as well as some blotching of the finish on one portion of the cylinder indicate it was carried a fair bit.
Very accurate; shoots as though it was new.

I have had a 27-2 like that since 1979. Bought it new for $325. A lot of money for me at the time. You will keep yours too.
^^^ Yes, it was a lot of money then. I bought a new Colt Python in 1981 for $440. That was a lot of money for me too, and I had a good job.

Time to bump this back to the front page by posting a few images of my newest 3 1/2" 27-2 I got last month. It's not unfired, but rather very lightly shot and in extremely nice shape. I picked it up the day before I had to leave for the rig, so I still haven't had a chance to get to the range and give it a go.
It sitting in the presentation case, which is in excellent shape:
My oldest and my newest. The 5" I bought new in 1974 and put in the the pic with my newest model 27.
Finally, I also got the original silver box with it, with tools still in the plastic as well as all the paperwork the pistol came with in the box. All in all, a nice package deal I thought.
