Did they at least put that delivery attempt sticky note on your door? if so then you can take that to your local USPS office & pick it up or contact them and have them hold it so you can pick it up... other than that i have no idea where you live or how your home is situated. Do you have your own mailbox or do you have to walk down the corner to where all the mailboxes are at?

I get constant deliveries. It is a house. They use the mailbox or leave it on the steps for the last 30 years

Yawn. My business includes working with the USPS on a daily basis. They're, without doubt, the best postal administration in the world. 98% of the time, delivery as promised. You are the 2% apparently.

Well usually you are right, but if you look at all the recent last 3 week deliveries, something is wrong. 2 of them were not to my house

No stickey note. Checked with shipper. Correct address. No idea where they went. I am a corner lot, and they have been delivering packaages to the mailbox of doorstep for 30 years

Delivery scheduled for today. Could not deliver, said " no access". It is a house. 7 days RI to Springfield, MA, 14 days to Phoenix , AZ...
Be happy - obviously they were at the wrong house. Just imagine if they were at the wrong house and left the package? Consider yourself lucky this time...

Most of the time USPS works great. Very reliable and on time.
But when they screw up, they screw up royally.
I refer to the Memphis distribution center as "The Black Hole". According to the tracking, packages have arrived there and just disappeared for days, weeks and once forever. Thank goodness for insurance.
A couple of years ago, I bought a gun off GB from a shop in NY state. First you need to under stand that my dealer is semi-retired. All he does these days is transfers and works out of a local jewelry store. The regular mailman knows this. Well my gun showed up on a Monday. The store is closed on Mondays. Further, they had a substitute carrier that day. He showed up, the place was closed, package addressed to a gun store and he found a jewelry store there. He sent it back to New York!
The seller was very good about it. He got the gun and sent it right back without any extra charges. But still, it ended up being 23 days from the end of the auction until I received my gun.

No they are useless. My daughter's package has been routed all over the US. They sent it to Cally and we are in NJ.

Have you not heard?: "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night
stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds."
For many years we had a lady carrier. We could almost set our clocks by
her arrival every day about 13:30. Something happened to her, but I
don't know what. We sure miss her.

I had that problem after wife yelled at postman for racing into driveway(dogs). They refused to leave a box on the stump next to the box so I went and bought the biggest box I could find so any thing can fit. No more issues

I buy stuff online quite often because I can't get it locally. Most of the time USPS shipping is pretty good but I ordered some stuff from a company on the other side of Michigan a while back and never did get it. I contacted the company and they reshipped UPS red and I got it the next day.

I have lost 2 fly rods. Stolen. tracked them right to the PO, and the carrier says they were delivered. Contacted shipper, say it happens all the time. Told him to take his name off the tube, and just use a resident address

I almost forgot this one. I ordered some magazines from a company in Oregon. Tracking showed that they got to the Black Hole Memphis center, went to Seattle, then back to Memphis and finally to me. About ten days on that one.
Another time I sold a rifle sight to a fellow forum member. It left my local post office, arrived at the black hole, then just disappeared and never left. I actually made a profit on that one. I had it insured for more than it was worth. But I had to wait 90 days to collect.
But as I said before, 95% of the time they do a great job. But they ain't perfect. Considering the shear volume of the mail they deal with every day, I'm amazed USPS does as good of a job as they do.
I've currently got a gun headed for my dealer. Tracking shows it arrived at my local post office at 6:30 this morning and will be delivered today. Hopefully, it'll get there early enough for me to pick it up today. ;)

The good, bad & ugly. I've seen it all when it comes to the USPS. Just recently I purchased a rear sight from a fellow member on another forum who lives across state (150 miles). It took 14 days to deliver the package to me since it went all over CONUS. No one could explain why. Love them or hate them, most folks continue to use them with satisfaction.

OK, the bottom line. This was not being delivered from my local PO, but the town below. They put it on the wrong truck, so the route to deliver was wrong. when the guy finally found out he had a package on his route that was not for his route, he decided to scan it. They have limited scan codes, and not one of them is, put on wrong truck, wrong route, reroute tomorrow etc. So he puts down tried to deliver, no access. I went to the PO this morning, and it took them half an hour to find it, but i got it. The scanner needs to say" No my yob man"
