Let the bashing begin. What's the worst hamburger you've had. I say it's the Big Mac, or as I call it, McSlop. Probably the leading cause of decay of American culture for the last 60 yrs.

Any burger from any local burger place in eastern Washington. They are all "salt burgers". Cheeseburger, hamburger, whatever==all you taste is salt.

While on the subject of "worst food", all their pies are sugar, followed fruit, crust, etc. Green apple (granny smith), blackberry, raspberry, etc.==instant tooth rot.

Any GUT-BOMB that is sold by McDonalds. After not eating there for 5-6 months, I splurged and tried a 1/4 lb'r w/ cheese. BAD CHOICE! The "hamburger" patty had the mushy texture and consistency of a warm tire patch. Nothing like it in Nature!

I hate any food that you get the AFTER-TASTE first, 2 bites was all I could take, Then I gave the rest to the dog. (He had to lick his butt to get the taste out of HIS mouth...I can't reach mine, so I used the dogs, too!) NEVER will I eat at MAC's again.
GREASE, SALT, SUGAR, ARTIFICIAL FLAVORING, ITS AWFUL.

It is not a matter of which is worst but why someone wants a fast food burger anyway.

The younger generation (under 40) does not remember the real hamburger joints that served real burgers and french fries that were large enough to enjoy without the quick fried texture.

When I was a teen and on through college, it was great to go to a place to get a hamburger, fries and a malt made with real ice cream. Then in the late 50's, the McDonalds, BurgerKings, Whataburgers and Griffs began popping up.

Finding an old fashioned diner today is rare.

If you have not seen it, rent the movie Supersize Me. It really is a very good movie.

I can not remember the last Big Gut Bomb I had but they have to be the worst! If I had to eat one I guess it would be Wendys but even they are not good.

I do not feel well right now:p

Define "Worst". The Culver's Jumbo Bacon Butterburger Deluxe (yes, it is a real product) probably wasn't very healthy (Bah! What do Drs know? Grease keeps the internals running smoothly I say...) and yet was quite tasty. I also found that I rather liked Big Macs, but that the trick was to get ketchup instead of the mysterious special sauce. (I feel that mystery gooey sauce of any type on my food is a bad thing.)

There used to be a Coney Island in Lansing where I had to invent my own burger. Most people couldn't stand it and said it was horrible. I had to order several dishes in order to build it. Basically it was a bacon chili cheeseburger, but with pieces of french toast for the buns. Then I'd add a slice of ham and fried egg whites. Yummy.

Anyway, among mass market ones, I dislike the local Burger Kings and their rendition of the Whopper. I haven't had a good Whopper since Bremerton. I used to live on them in college too, as many as nine a day. Tasty things when done right...

We don't buy chain burgers much but when we do it SURE AIN'T McDONALDS! Carl's Jr. usually. We have a place that makes elk, boar, lion ocassionally, etc., and they're great.
McDonalds seems to just cook their "meat" in it's own watery grease rather than charbroil like the other chain places.

Another vote for McDonald's, by far the worst mass-produced "burger" out there.

I think it was probably in the high school cafeteria. The cafeteria in the North Texas State Univ. was also pretty grim in the early 1970's,and McDonald's has some truly awful stuff. I hope their Euro locations are better. If the VA hospital cafeteria has burgers, I'm sure they're awful.

The Burger Street drive-ins in the Dallas area are usually pretty good for that sort of food. The one I use is actually pretty palatable. It's near my primary grocer, so I eat there a lot.

I posted recently about trying a burger at the downtown Dallas Hooter's, with KSCS 96.3 FM midday radio hostess Kim Stewart. (Kim has told me it's okay to name her and post photos taken there, although I don't know how to post pics here, and have no Online photo host. That's a C&W station, so I'd never heard of Kim until we met while on jury duty. I'm more into pop, New Age, and classical music. But I had no quarrel with her suggestion that we try Hooter's. :D)

I did pay attention to the food, despite ogling the waitresses, and I'd say their burgers are better than most fast food places, but not quite equal to the ones at the Burger Street I patronize.

But the best burgers that I've ever encountered were at Snuffer's on lower Greenville Ave. in Dallas. It's a sit-down place, and they used to have some waitresses who were off duty flight attendants and SMU students. I haven't been in there for a couple of years, and this burger discussion will probably stir me thence. Be warned: parking is at a premium. The fries have enough grease in them to make an Arab oil-producing country jealous, but they're good...in moderation. My daughter used to order their chicken breast sandwiches, which are probably healthier. But the burgers are the best I've had, I think. And I believe they use real ground round beef, not synthetic pseudo-meat.

BTW, the curly fries at Hooter's and at Burger Street are pretty good, and Hooter's also has fried dill pickles. I liked them better than expected, but the sauce they serve didn't appeal. They can sub. bleu cheese dressing or catsup.

And they had enough onions. Red onions are something that I want on a hamburger. They even help to clear a stuffy nose.

Hooter's has the cutest servers, and outfits. Sure beats using a drive-by window at Burger King! ;)

Can any of you guys recall when they had waitresses who skated out to your car at drive-in burger places? Later, they just walked out. They were called carhops, I think. Haven't seen any in years. And not many independent burger parlors like those that employed them!

I used to eat there, usually had the 1/4 pounder. Wife always had the "slimeburger". Yuck.

I have eaten a few Wendy's deluxe cheeseburgers -99 cents- in the last month. They have salad on them.

We hardly ever do fast food, but when we do it is usually Carl's Jr. Definitely not Maggot Macs!!

I think you have a point. McDonald's does lead the young and impressionable to accept declining quality and culinary standards.

But MTV is probably at least on par in contributing to the decline of US civilization.

T-Star, you ever eat at Keller's? I don't think they have the carhops on skates anymore, but it is a drive-in. And the burgers are some of the best around.

I have. I used to date a girl in college (El Centro, before I transferred to NTSU) who liked Keller's.

Are they still there, around Abrams Rd. and NW Hwy.?

I used to see off duty cops there. You could tell them by their tee-shirts. They didn't want to be seen in uniform. Probably had to do in part with having a beer. :D

I seldom get by there now, and wondered if Keller's was still there. From your post, I guess they're still active.

Do you visit Snuffer's?

We've really gotten off the junk food in the last couple of years...we much prefer to cook at home, or eat at a real sit-down restaurant. On occasion, we will have some "fast food" and it just doesn't taste good anymore...at best, it is a convenience when we are out running around.

What I find especially annoying is the discrepancy between the food as shown in the commercials and what you actually get in the take out place. I think they should have to show actual products in their ads, or make the actual products served match those they advertise!

The atmosphere there does look better than here, where the counter help is depressing and scary!

The "counter help" in McDonald speak means "counter" as "against"...so, when they say "counter help" they really mean they have no intention of helping you, except to take your money for inferior food and deliver an incomplete order.

The worst burger is from IHOP!
The slopburger from Wendy's is second.
The Steak n Shake burger is third. (smashed paper thin and fried til it's crispy) Used to be my favorite back when you could have one cooked to order.
