Ha this is funny ..... I saw this post and wondered how'd a thread with cool guns get to 166 posts without me even seeing it? Well, went back to the beginning and realized that I started it 3.5 years ago! And I don't even own that M27 any more! It was too nice of a gun to just sit in my safe so I sold it to a forum member.

It was also about that time that my collection started getting older - it's (still) going from guns in the late 60's thru the 70's to guns from the 30's to the 60's primarily. With that being said, this K-22 Outdoorsman from 1938 is my personal favorite these days along with a few others of similar vintage and status.

Happy to see this thread come alive. I, too, have a few new
ones that have captured my fancy.

Chiefs Special serial number 72 is bright blue, has the original
thumb piece, half-round front sight, smooth trigger, and service
stocks. S&W sent it to Evaluators Limited gun shop in Triangle,
Virginia, on March 7, 1951, after engraving the name of the
shop's co-owner on the side plate.

It came to me in the original box with a letter and an 8" x 10"
black and white photo of Flora Mason Van Orden and her
husband George standing in front of their shop's sign. S&W
shipped George's # 70 on March 1, 1951. Would I love to know
where it is?

My attraction to Chiefs Specials expanded to the stainless steel
Model 60s a few years ago. This one (seller's photo), according
to the serial number list in Dr. Roy Jinks' book, History of
Smith & Wesson
, is about the 247th one in the series, which
began in 1965.

It has the "bright polished stainless steel finish on the frame,
barrel, cylinder, hammer, and trigger," of which there were only
about 935, according to Roy's book. It shipped in March '66, has
matching diamond grips, and came in a non-Bangor Punta box
with the "steeler" logo affixed to the end label.

I have a Colt SAA first gen in 38 WCF that was owned by
Skeeter Skelton. Will post picture as soon as I figure out
how. Got upgraded to Windows 7 and using Firefox and
photo won't work.

Wow.....just wow. This thread is certainly drool-worthy.
While I have more than a few semi’s, a few wheel guns, and a few long guns, I am by no means a collector. I carry/shoot everything I own, thus presentation grips come off and either Hogues or Pachmayrs go on. Perhaps not as esthetically pleasing but more utile (for me).
So....theses are the closest things I have for revolver wow pieces. Excuse the less than pristine 325 as I pulled it straight out of the holster for this shot after working in the yard all day. The 625-8 came from a member here, who’s collection would definitely belong here. My lever guns are perhaps my favorites, a ss true Marlin 1894 .357, and a late ‘70’s Winchester 94 30-30 trapper.

Wow wow wow !!! Great thread with some unbelievable beautiful guns. My one thought that came over me looking and drooling was (Just strictly my opinion) that I think revolvers are so much more (can I say ??) BEAUTIFUL than most semi-autos, with maybe the exception of the (again that word ??) beautiful P-08 German Luger. I guess my old age is showing, but I just love the "Wheel Guns."

My M&P 38 from 1950 was shipped one month before I was. I'll never give it up. Altamont coke targets instead of the factory grips, just to save the factories from being scarred. I do take it to the range and shoot it. As it is as old as me, we both need the exercise.

I noticed in my much earlier reply I made a comment about a wow gun that was not a S&W but "just another rifle". For non-gunners, it's always a wow. For gun lovers, sometimes it's wow, usually it becomes a "Well, I have one like that but mine is ......." :D
