THINGS DAD SAID

If I got hurt "no bones sticking out
Not bleeding profusely from and artery you'll be fine"
When I'm working on something an having a hard time " are you smarter than what your working on "

My dad always told me "always try to look your best- you'll NEVER get a second chance to make a good first impression". I think about that when I tuck my shirt in, or shine my shoes.
I remember getting up early for school and he would be sitting at the kitchen table shining his shoes and he'd say "You can be all dressed up, but if your shoes aren't shined, you're not presentable and you'll look like hell".
My dad has been gone for 34 years , but I still think about him often and sure miss him and wish we woulda talked a lot more than we did. I gotta stop now 'cause things are getting all blurry.

One of my Dad’s sayings was “First impressions are lasting”. I had forgotten about that one:)

Things my dad said

Me after screwing up: “ But dad I thought…
Dad: “That’s your problem, you’re thinking. From now on I’ll do your thinking for you”
Note: Even so, I was able to become an independent thinker.

“Lead, follow, or get the heck out of my way!”

Can't you holler louder than that- I can't hear you! (as a kid lol)

Don't stand in the darn door way!

Make wood! (chop a cord of wood if he thought you had a hangover)

What are you bums doing? (run up on us kids goofing off to much)

Don't touch the metal! (on any gun)

You are tougher than you think- be surprised what you can do if you have to.

Can I have that dad? sure- get a job. lol

Don't slam the door!

Just smile at them and take their money ( complain about boss or job)

and a lot of others to funny to put up here.. lol

I usually don’t add to posts this long but…

“Well it isn’t working now so we don’t have anything to lose trying to fix it.”

I’ve always followed this thought and he was right. Sometimes out of necessity and sometimes out of stubbornness I’ve taken things apart that stopped working. I’ve mostly been successful with mechanical things, not so much with electronics.

Military, college or the bridge.
I'm dad and told my children that from an early age.

Never heard this rom my old man...Actions have consequences. But I did learn it very well... And I never even thought of him as my old man...and yeah...I learned a lot from him...even if I didn't really want to
