My Dad said a bunch of things, however his favorite - which has become my favorite are "The 6 P's".

Whenever I started with an excuse, it would end up with:
"I don't want to hear about the pain, just show me the baby".

Dad borrowed some sayings from others.
From Goethe he used to paraphrase "Things that matter most should never be at the mercy of things that matter least." .
From Twain he'd paraphrase "A man who doesn't read isn't any better off than one who can't"
And in reference to deer hunting and my reluctance to get up in the pre-dawn "You shoot very few deer in your bedroom."
And one of my favorites for all occasions "Use your brain-bone."
My Dad never swore, and I mean never. Not a curse word of any kind. The worst thing he would/could call someone was a knucklehead.

Whenever my Dad would give me a hard or impossible task, he would say "You can do it, I've got all the faith in the world in you." And I would say "Anything's easy if someone else has to do it!" Then he would say "Yep." and I would just have to get started and get it done.
