We packed the truck and headed on out to go camping this morning. When we signed up for our favorite campsite, it was hot sunny and humid, just the way we like it. However, by the time we got to our favorite camp site, the lightning and thunder started. That's okay, we'll just wait it out.
When the sun came out, we got out of the truck, intending to unload our camping stuff. That's when I noticed that both of our rear tires were flat.
How does that happen? I've had flat tires before but two at exactly the same time?
We do have an air compressor, spare tire and Fix-A-Flat. I hooked the air compressor up to one tire, it took a while, 'bout 45 minutes, and when I disconnected the compressor I could hear it hissing. In the other tire, I used the Fix-A-Flat and ran the compressor on it for 'bout 10 minutes. By then the storm was back and we were getting rained on.
We managed to limp on home and stopped at the local repair shop. The truck's 13 years old and since we bought the truck used and don't know the history of the tires we're gonna go ahead and replace all four tires. Maybe they're old and delaminating from the inside? Dunno.
We limped the truck home, unloaded the camping gear, then My wife followed me back to the repair shop in our little Toyota Yaris.
If it turns out to be nice tomorrow, we're gonna see if that little Toyota Yaris can make it to our campsite.
We paid for it and we'd still like to spend some time in the woods.
