Thinking about going all revolver

I've been lucky enough to shoot some during recovery from surgery and been bringing lots of fun to the range. They recently set up a series of steel plates and I've been having a ball pinging them with my .22 Ruger pistol
They are asking no ball or HP to start with
I brought my HK VP9 and my Ruger Max last few times
Lead rounds constantly hang but FMJ will cycle in both just fine BUT I can't use that on the steel yet

Another issue is policing my brass
Hernia surgery means I'm a little limited in movement
So last time I brought my 19-3
Man was that a blast. I was ringing steel on almost every shot and just dumping empties into a belt dump pouch then a reload
I'm thinking if I had a 9mm revolver bet that would be a blast too and quick since the truncated come lead 9mm would practically fall in

I carry a 36 no dash I just got off this forum (thanks NY-1) that my wife has claimed as her bedside gun (familiar story for many - the significant others get dibs)
I getting a 442 for the holidays to get a little lighter in the pocket to replace my 36
.38 recoil doesn't bother me as I've had 37s in the past
I also shoot some 19s, 15s and a 38/44 at times
It sure is nice not having to pick through grass and mud for the cases
So thinking of selling off the 9mm and .380 and getting a 929 performance center
Leaving me only the semi .22
THAT I can't sell - it's an SR22 with purple lilac frame that's my wife's favorite for the range and it shoots pretty well

Plus my local FFL knows I'm the S&W revolver guy so I usually end up with some .357 or .38 at decent prices so he would be willing to deal with me for some trade fodder
I'm the only one who seems to like the old six shooter around here as everyone wants a plastic striker fired semi so I should get some good cash back plus magazines


So anyone ever go mostly revolver (sans one .22 for me)

REAL MEN CARRY REVOLVERS !
The only plus "Bottom Feeders" has over "Wheel Guns" is more rounds before reloading and slightly quicker reload.

With Revolvers "Limp Wristing" is not an issue.
Revolvers are more forgivening on ammo used.
Picking up brass: there are many tools available to save bending. A fellow shooter at the range had a long cane that had a magnet for picking up brass. However with a Revolver hunting and finding brass is not an issue.

Back in my reloading days, I preferred revolvers, easier to retrieve the brass. No finicky magazines to worry about.

Keep to the revolvers. I have a couple of semi-autos I can shoot comfortably, but almost all target shooting are my revolvers, 22's, 38/357's, even the 44's.

A fellow shooter at the range had a long cane that had a magnet for picking up brass.

I wish him luck with that.

I'd go all revolver, but I like my semiautos almost as much, so I just can't do it.

The steel will be fine with fmj. Our sasp team use softer metal for mostly .22 but we shoot 9mm in PCC and 1911. Fmj don't do much.

Revolvers are like a manual transmission. You like to drive them once in a while.

But day to day..an automatic is what you have.

I quit chasing brass years ago!! I have some autos, but shoot them very little, and I leave the brass! Mostly 9mm which I do not like to reload, anyway. Well, on second thought, I sometimes help others find their brass. I would rather shoot a revolver, anyway.

Go to Dillon.com and order a brass pickup cage. You roll it along the ground like a broom and it gathers all your brass. You then simply dump it into your range bag.

Yeah, I went all revolvers some years ago with two exceptions. I have a 1956 Colt Huntsman that belonged to my Uncle that I keep, well, because it belonged to my Uncle. Then I have a Keltec P3AT that I honestly have no idea why I still have, other than the opportunity to get rid of it just hasn't come up. One of these days I'll give it to an unsuspecting family member.

I thoroughly enjoy shooting my wheelguns. The bottom feeders just stopped bringing me joy so down the road they went.

I like both pistols and revolvers, and have a number of each in my gun safe...but the one I would depend upon in the middle of the night is my 3" Model 65, which sits in my nightstand...

I have shot only revolvers for matches since 1979 to the present. I can shoot autos if just target shooting, but in a competition, sometimes put 6 lb. of DA pull on a 2 lb. SA auto trigger. Good way to get ADs and lose points.

I have one auto I like best out of all of them. It's a CZ Tactical Sport. It had a 2lb. trigger out of the box and is super accurate, plus the grip fits my hand perfectly.

I mostly shoot my revolvers in centerfire. The only exception is a pair of 1911's. I've been shooting the 1911's more often lately as if you ask for your brass, the RSO's at my current range will sweep up your brass (and some other's!) into a large dustpan and then pour it for you while you hold the bag.

I take them kolaches.

I like and use both. Revolvers and semi-autos accompany me to the range with almost every visit. In real life use, I tend to carry what I think is the right tool for the job. When in the woods here in PA and Maine, it is usually a big bore revolver, as it also is while hunting. Power, accuracy, and reliability.

For self defence carry away from the woods, it is usually a semi-auto, for the weight, capacity, concealability, and yes, reliability.

I wouldn't want to limit myself to just one of either type.

And AZShooters comment about the Dillon brass picker upper thingy is spot on. They work great. I might also see if your club would consider some of the soft lead plated bullets like Berry's. They usually feed well in a semi, and are not as hard as traditional FMJ bullets.

Majority of handguns are auto loaders, probably 60%.

I'm a DA revolver guy. I like the simplicity and reliability.

I had a coupla 1911s for a while, but did not shoot them enough to get comfortable with them. Due to lack of training/practice, I'm sure, they felt awkward to me.

I recently bought a coupla Colt Woodsman, as I like their aesthetics, but haven't shot them yet. We'll see.

I began a love affair for the 1911 as a young recruit at Parris Island SC in early 1961.I used them in 2700 matches both for center fire and the 45 events.I had the property of US government MTU 1911s and some Colt government models accurized by Al Dinan.Al Dinan also did an S&W M41 for me.A nicer human being would be hard to find.Al passed in 1977.
I got my first intro to revolvers in early 1966 when I was issued a heavy barrel Model 10.Once out of the Police Academy I started to shoot it often.I replaced the stock grips with wood combats and replaced the issued lead round nose 158gr ammo with hand loads or Super Vels.
While a member of various NYPD shooting teams I had Model 52s and K38s worked on and hand delivered by S&W gunsmith Archie Dubea
I had 3 Star Machines in my loading room.
I'm nearly 79 now and easing out of what I loved to do for so many many years.
Revolvers are a joy to shoot with the right grips and ammo.I have and had many but never fell in love with any particular one.
Saying goodbye now to most of whats in the safe is harder than I thought it would be.
