Just courious, why I do not see more coated/painted revolvers. As I look through my gun rags, at all the great new looks, that many people are putting on their guns, it seems most coated processes are being done on 1911's and other autos. I recently saw a great new look, or coating on a j-frame, and the bug, seems to have bitten me. I have a 60 that I am thinking about DuraCoat or something, to clean her up. Just wondering what you guys had to say about coatings on revolvers, why we do not see more, and what is your favorite. I have read where some say a softer finish is better,as it will not chip, others say a harder finish so it will not scratch. What U say?

If you actually plan on carrying it, it'll look like Hell much faster than any chemical process will. And in short order. A "drag" line at the cylinder stop is unavoidable. But I agree, they look sexy as Hell! If your after a gun that'll look like you've been carrying it 10 years in 6 months, it's the way to go! Somewhat like a "20 mission hat".

Thanks spotteddog, I would not be happy if my 60 got ragged quickly. Can you tell me more about the chemical treatment you talk about, or tell me where to find some pictures of guns treated. Thanks

I'm just an old fart that loves deep blue and wood, and starting to like nickel ones too. I have no reason to "paint" any of my guns. A cammo finish doesn't make much sense if you pocket carry.
