watched a few You Tube clips with the Soggy Bottom Boys from the movie 'O Brother, Where Art Thou'.
Delbert with a skint squirrel roasting on a stick during the music scene 'Down by the river to Pray' and Clooney in one of his best roles ever. Has to be a Classic movie for me.

My favorite movies were all made before I was!

Of the more modern stuff, I'd still take time to watch movies like Patton, Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, the 1993 Tombstone, and the very cheesy 2012 Dark Shadows.

O Brother is one of those movies that is one of those once is enought and almost too much. One of my all time favorites that they never olay on any of the channels I get is "In Harm's Way". I have it on DVD and will watch it every once in a while.

Patton, Midway, Last of the Mohicans, Safari, Battle of Britain.

My review of the last in my college newspaper earned me the second place award for Critical Review in any TX university that year 1969.

Add, Where Eagles Dare and the Dirty Harry films, Out of Africa, The Silence of the Lambs, Manhunter, Red Dragon, The Fifty Shades trio, and Jaws.

However, having read the book, I feel that Jaws was badly miscast for some roles. Can't say here why. But it remains a good film.

One of the problems for “O Brother ...” on this forum may be that many of the characters caricatured in that movie fit the demographic overrepresented here ... :D

I attempted to watch "O Brother" once. Far more silly than funny. Terrible movie. I can't see how anyone could sit through the whole thing and call it enjoyable.

As for favorites, I gave up on that as far as a single film. The best I could do would be the ten best - in my opinion, of course.

Another Clooney film: "Michael Clayton"

"Best Years of our Lives"
"To Each, his Own"
"The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit"
"Shane"
"People Will Talk"
"Keys to the Kingdom"

Yeah, I really wasn't a fan of that film. I've seen it twice and ended up liking it even less the second time. I just couldn't figure out wbat it was going for, really.
However, I make no claims of being a film connoisseur with only the most refined, sophisticated taste in movies. I enjoy plenty of films that others would likely criticize me for.

That being said, I took the time to watch some of my favorite films while I was sick and under quarantine. I watched the Back to the Future Trilogy as well as an assortment of my favorite television shows, including Japanese Anime.

Generally speaking, my favorite films are action/adventure and suspense films. I'm a big fan of Martin Scorsese films in particular.

Aliens
Army of Darkness
Back to the Future
Die Hard
Dirty Harry
Evil Dead II: Dead By Dawn
Gangs of New York
Lord of the Rings
The Matrix
Predator
Pulp Fiction
Robo Cop
Scarface
Starship Troopers
Taxi Driver
The Terminator
Witness

The list goes on and on.

I would like to add Mulholland Falls to UncleEd's list.

Ah! A neo film noir. It has :

Jennifer Connelly, Nick Nolte, John Malkovich, Bruce Dern, Fedoras, 1949 "ragtop" Buick Roadmaster, Jennifer Connelly.

....

If you’re this much into neo-noir, do you know “Gangster Squad”?

No Jennifer Connelly :(
But Nick Nolte again, as a “way too old for the role” Chief Parker, fedoras, and Sean Penn as Mickey Cohen.

Knowing the real story of the Gangster Squad, the movie is highly fictionalized, but well-done and VERY noir and stylish ;)
