Last night on Gun Broker, 400 CCI small pistol primers closed at $115.00

5000 Winchester Small pistol primers closed at $355.00

5000 Winchester Large Pistol primers closed at $356.00.

I spent the afternoon calling gun shops. Not one store within a 100 miles of me had any primers. At one shop the guy who answered the phone started laughing and said you have to be the 10th caller today that I told we don't have any primers.

Then he said, we have plenty of bullets, I said, what good are they? I didn't hear him laugh at that.

The largest store I called told me that their supplier told them that their order for 1 millon primers might be in at the end of June.

Most shops around here are even out of all their pistol ammunition.

In 40 years of shooting, I've never seen any thing like this.

Primers were $34 per K this weekend at the Reno Show from one Dealer. IF You wanted to wait in liine for a few hours.

Literally feet away from the $34 primers a guy was selling them for $80 per K. And people were buying them!

FN in MT

I feel your pain. As of last weekend, I'm completely out of small pistol primers. Still have some large pistol and rifle primers left, but they probably won't last until the supply picks back up.
On the plus side, those primers are now enough loaded ammo to last me a while.

You know, I paid $170 (including shipping and hazmat) for 5000 Winchester primers (1k LR, 4k SPM) from Midway about two weeks ago and I thought I overpaid. $115 for 400 primers? I'm in the wrong line of work.

$115/400 is $28.75/100. If I sold all the primers in my shop for $28.75/100, I could pay off my house. I'm not kidding. That is crazy.

I'm still buying Magtech primers from my dealer for $28K. Just bought another 2K last week, not that I need them but they were there. NO right now I don't want to sell any either, but I will see him again later in the week. I he still has a good supply I will post it.

The salesman at one of the gun shops I frequent says the reason they limit primer purchases to 2 1000 pc boxes is that there are people that are trying to buy every case they get in just to sell on line for those ridiculousness prices which denies their long time customers of product they'll still sell at a reasonable markup over their current cost.

I just called my local wholesale/retail guy who has had everything and lots of it. Even he is out of LPP. Has no idea if or when any will be around.

I thought it was nuts during the last "primer shortage" when prices doubled almost overnight from $7.00/1000 to $15.00. This beats anything I ever saw!

This just points up that folks are figuring out that the government doesn't have to ban guns, ammo, or anything else. No primers, no shooting, period.

I kind of stumbled on to this. Let me start with like most of us we like to shoot. I was having problems with fruit rats in Florida it is pretty common. I live in a residential so the my guns are just not going to do the trick, just to noisy. So I went down to Wally world and got a Crosman air rifle with 3-9 power on it. Well the rats are dissappering and I am really enjoying shooting the gun. It is powerful cheap to shoot and it doesnt bother anyone.
I like it so much I bought a competition air pistol. That thing is is very accurate and is hoot to shoot. I am saving my primers and powder and I dont have to go to the range.
Ir cost about $6.00/ 500 pellets for the cheap stuff and $ 9.00 for the good stuff. or about .01 per shot. Not bad

Geeze! When will it ever end?

Of course all the drug and weapon problems in Mexico are due to us here in the US. We sneak them in at night across the border.

I agree with Nickster. My brother just gave me a Gammo Varmit Hunter .177 caliber. Now I want a Whisper 22 caliber. Pretty close to regular silenced 22lr. Fun to shoot. Reminds me of when I was a kid and we would shoot in the basement. Some of the new compressed air rifles are very high tech and powerful
