This is what I found in dads safe

I don't own any white gloves for handling firearms. I would buy some if I owned that!

I've always ranted about safe queens. But if any gun was to qualify for that title, it'd be that one!

I hope you never shoot that one! Usually I say "shoot it! That's what it was made for". But not that one. Your dad never shot it, I presume? Has the cylinder even been cracked on that one?

Your dad certainly has great taste in firearms.

Congratulations on receiving such a wonderful gift from your father. Receiving such a gun from a Dad makes it even more special.

Don't shoot it!

Regards.

Bob

That is one.....

That is one well-taken care of gun. It doesn't look like it's been fired much because the turn line only extends a little past the notches. It's doubtful you would want to sell a piece like that given to you from your Dad, so the pristine condition, while great, wouldn't matter as much to me as shooting and enjoying it. He wanted you to have it. Was that to keep for a collectors item or for you to enjoy it?

Spectacular gun and package

I'd be interested in "the story" if you'd care to share
The details on how when your father was able to acquired it.

who he had to kill etc.

May I say thanks for all the comments about the package am enable to possess. My father did give me another that I will post later. As to how he acquired the collection. When he was in his early 20's he was introduced to an older man at the local range. Being the hard worker that he always has been he started helping this man by doing painting and odd jobs that needed done. The gentleman started taking my dad on hunting trips to Colorado. The older gent had no kids so when the man passed he made my dad executor of his gun collection. So for the last 52 years he has had them tucked away in the safe. Other than the guns used or hunting the rest stayed in the safe except to get a little oil every once in a while.

May I ask does anyone have any idea of the value of the package
not that I'm looking to sell. This one is staying in the family.

There is one over on GB that is up around 4300 with about a day or so left on the auction. It is already lettered and I believe it is 4 inch. Follow it and see what it sells for it is not as good looking as yours. It has some wear on it so yours could be worth even more.

Isn't it sad that there really aren't any firearms that exist today that are worthy of buying and holding onto so you could pass them down to your children? I know you can spend big bucks on a Les Baer or a Korth revolver, but imagine bequeathing your Glock or M&P? Look at the box and the accessories. It looks like it belongs in a museum.

OP, if you dad ever shot that gun I would shoot exactly one cylinder in his honor and then clean it, wax it, and put it away. If there is no carbon rings on the front of that cylinder than that is exactly how I would leave it, unfired.

A friend of mine is a retired FBI agent. He had the opportunity to buy FBI marked Model 27's (maybe 28's). They came in a beautiful wood box. Consecutive serial numbers. He's never even opened the cylinders on them. He's got one for each of his kids. Sad thing is his kids don't care about guns, so they'll probably sell them to pay their rent one day.
