This mornings thoughts about my country

The government could do lots of things.

Secure the border and control immigration.

Decrease regulation at almost every level.

Mandate education reform for public school focusing on History, Mathematics, and English. Offer school choice and charter schools.

Increase and control tarrifs on imports to have a level playing field.

More control of foreign policy to stop being the policeman and cash giveaway man for the world.

Change drug laws to either make things legal or really illegal no fence-sitting. Either buy things in a store or get caught and face extremely serious charges.

More controls on military spending, what do we really need and why.

More control on social programs, stop subsidizing low paying jobs.

Have local law enforcement use Broken Windows type polices in high crime areas.

Have prisons that give job skills and life skills.

Make election policies that are honest no third world anytime and place voting. Absentee ballots with controls and inperson with ID.

Remove power from labor unions that prevent the firing of bad apples.

New laws about honesty in journalism.

I can write this stuff all day...

freedom and liberty or chaos and statists

I'm all for skilled trades but don't write college off completely. I put myself through college on student loans and working three jobs at a time. It took five years to get a four year degree, but I got there.

Both of my big boy jobs required a four year degree - Air Force officer and FBI agent. No degree, no job. There are still a lot of jobs that require a degree. You can always work a job that doesn't require a degree if you have one, but a GED or HS diploma only closes a lot of doors.

I have three kids - one with a college degree, one with a high school diploma, and one with a GED. That is also how they rank in income, from most to least.

So the big question becomes, How do we get the government to do all of these things? Riot? loot? vandalize? murder?

We gotta do something because government ain't gonna do anything but pander to the useful idiots. Even if their numbers aren't the majority, their voices are louder.

Assuming many if not most of us are close to or over 70, think about the world in which we were raised. All we knew was what was around us, what we were told, and what we might have glimpsed on the front pages while pulling out the sports section. Fistfights common, shootings unheard of.
Graduate HS, maybe go to college, grab a career, raise a family, buy a home for 25K. We were all mostly blue collar, only the boss's white collar.

Now think about the world of today. 24/7 availability of anything and everything. An onslaught of every type of news, agendas and viewpoints.
A kid in Uganda viewing same things online as a kid in Texas. What coughs in China today coughs in New York in a week. Shootings more common than the fistfights of yesteryear. No such things as retirement jobs, it's a gig economy, education and portable skills everything, homes 300K in most settings, double that or more in big cities. An entire class of blue collar jobs decimated by automation, technology, and the offshoring of manufacturing by the greedy rich.

Instead of being angered by what you see around you, why not be glad for what you had while you had it. Compared to today, it really was the good old days.

@ the OP / DG, I am sorry, I hate to make light of things with humor, but I can't hold back:

I am very sorry to hear of your thoughts regarding the current situation in Australia.;):D

P.S. I didn't notice the shirt said Austria for, eh, 4 years or so. :)

Here in lies the problem, ourside is busy working, doing the things that need doing. On top of that were a fractured group that doesnt always agree on every detail. When we disagree on things we tend to ignor the issue.

We need to use their playbook, Rules for Radicals by Saul Alinsky.

Beyond that, well, talk to you friends, help people vote, ignor the screechers.

You wouldn't believe the comments I get. "Why don't you like kangaroos?" "What's wrong with kangaroos?" on and on. About one in ten get it.

I got the shirt in Salzburg, It was made for Americans sense of Geography. ;):D:D:D

Let's see:
1. "Mandate education reform for public schools." That smacks of federal control of education.
2. "More control on social programs." We need to stop subsidizing promiscuity, illegitimacy, welfare as a comfortable way of life.
3. "Have prisons that give job skills and life skills. " The primary function of prison is to isolate those who either can not or will not abide by society's rules and "cannot spend more than 10 seconds a day thinking about anybody but themselves." And they should be first and foremost places that people want to stay out of.

This post is based on so many mistaken assumptions it is no wonder it is such a wrong-headed recitation of the problems that face us.

"New laws about honesty in journalism" How about a Departement of Popular Enlightenment and Propaganda, with the authority to issue speech regulations ?

A little bit of creative parsing of your wish list shows one of the biggest philosophical issues with a lot of folks who, funny enough, complain about "statists":

They really don't have a problem with big government at all, as long as big government only does the things they want done and doesn't touch the things they don't want touched.

It's the same with the whole "government tyranny" thing as applied to corona and protests: oppressive government is quite okay as long as only the people you don't agree with are oppressed.

Its to late, there are to few "we" to matter anymore. We are the minority. A few decades of pumping this mindset out of public schools and universities has caught up with us. Remember when we used to laugh at PC and discount it as quirky? Nobodies laughing anymore.

We are not the minority..........We are the HUUGGGEE silent majority.

Don't make this thread about race or it'll go bye.

Notice that my first post was edited and it cost me.

That wasn't my intention.

I'm looking for ways to fight back against lies and the MSM.
