Haven't been to work since last Thursday. Have shoveled the walk, drive, porch, and deck numerous times since then as well as the drive of the elderly couple across the street. My back is killing me and all of my hands joints ache.

SNOWVERDOSE!

Yes, true but its not all that much better in portions of North Carolina and their past knee deep in Pennsylvania. The daughter went in to work at the hospital and was there for thirty plus hours straight with only three hours sleep/rest during the shift. Its snow, falls from the sky what are you going to do.

In addition to the drive and sidewalk, I have to shovel a poop loop in the front yard for my dog. We had 7-9" of snow last night and I was out working on it at 5:30 this morning. Of course the plow went by and left a 2' berm of compacted barricade at the foot of the driveway, but I expect that.

Now we're getting dumped on. Here in my part of SE-PA , we didn't get hit that bad last week. We got about a foot of loose , easy to move powder.

That was then!

Started last night , rain turned to wet snow , than sleet , now a full on blizzard is DUMPING on top of that. Heavy to shovel and it stalls snow blowers. Got about a foot already , and another foot is predicted. That annoying Emergency Broadcast buzzer is sounding off on the TV right now , lots of major highways are closing. Township/county declared snow emergency. Work decided yesterday to close for the day , so I'm home watching it snow and getting paid.

Now at 2:55pm it's really coming down. Winds picking up too. Got about 50-60ft visibility out the windows. I'll probably wait till tomorrow and call a plow to do my driveway.

Last Thursday  think about how sore the wife must be :D :D

You guys need to pack up and move down here to TEXAS. I just had a dump truck load of cow manure compost delivered for the garden. By this afternoon, it will be spread and tilled in, with onions going in next week. I would go crazy if I had to put up with what you are having to live with! Global warming sucks!

Bunch of whiners...

Up here in Maine we'd call that just a hard frost....:p

Last year we had almost 13 feet where I live.;)

ship some to vancouver, they still dont have enough to hold the Olympics

ship some to california, weve had a bunch of good storms and the mountains have received good snowpack with more on the way but they still cry and moan about being in a drought

the good news is the fed.gov is shut down. if they just shut it down for a few years we'd be in great shape and have the debt paid off in no time

What happens around here is: It gets warm enough to snow 10-12". Just enough to be a PIA. Then you have a window of maybe 12 hours to shovel before the temp drops to single digits. If you don't jump through the window an shovel, the next day the fluffy white snow has turned to black glare ice. Your vehicles doors are frozen shut and the vehicle itself is encased in an ice prison. Snowed here the obligatory 10" last night (again) and I cleared the snow and decks for action tomorrow. A week ago Tuesday it snowed no more than 1" here. I went down the Gary "backroads" to get to the fleamarket there (this was 5 days after the 1" and only snowfall) Sunday . The backroads were so slick I almost slid into "The Great Gary Slippery Swamp and Resident Water Supply". N.W. Indiana does nothing about snow removal. My understanding is the single horse drawn snowplow that services this area is out of service cause old Dobbin, wants more oats and at least 2 or 3 more shoes.

We've had no significant snow here at all this winter but today is going to change that. It's 4:15 right now and just starting to snow hard. It was supposed to start this mourning. So much for the weather forecast. My wifes nephew moved to DC two years ago to get away from New England weather. Ha. I don't like the little richard head anyway. Hope he's freezing his tucas off.:)

I find it incredible that Al Gore hasn't shown up with a snow shovel to help out.

Actually earth warming has caused mini ice ages in the northern hemisphere in the past. We are experiencing climate change, and it may pick up pace rapidly. Such is the natural cycle on earth, with or without man's influence.
