Those two triggers... Stupid Glock question.

I've had an AD......its not fun!.

Finger off the trigger before AND AFTER you shoot. Follow that rule and it wont happen to you! :-D

If I want two triggers on a gun, they'll be double-set triggers on a Mannlicher-Schoenauer carbine or on a CZ rifle.

I've handled a couple of Glocks. They made me appreciate the CZ-75B, the Beretta M-92FS, and the old Colt Govt. Model even more, also the Browning Hi-Power and the SIG pistols.

I know the UK has adopted the Glock 17 in part because it stands up better to reaIly intense use better than the Browning. I believe that Q-Ball said the same was true in Sweden, where he lives.

But I don't frequently pound my guns with hot ammo, and I want something with more soul than a Glock or that even uglier Springfield XD atrocity. I can't imagine even asking to look at the latter in a gun store.

And as far as I'm concerned, the M&P should still be a revolver by that name, not a pseudo-Glock!

I hear you about the XD. Feels ugly, Looks ugly and shoots even uglier. They should have thought about aesthetics and ergonomics when making it. And left the grip safety to 1911's.....

I agree, and think that Star was wise to lose the grip safety.
 
I was at the range when a glock went kaboom on a cast lead bullet load. The lube and lead shavings build up and keep the gun frome going into full battery. You better clean your glock well every time if you shoot non jacketed bullets. The trigger safety was put on to keep the trigger from going back with the slide when you chamber the first round, then they turned it into a selling point. And it will prevent the kydex holsters that lock onto the trigger guard from activating the trigger so leave it alone at ain't bothering anyone.:D
 
Problem solved with the Glock trigger safety.

If you find that the trigger dongle gets in your way and is a waste of time... then you will appreciate how this wiz kid streamlined the whole "bang" process.

On p.29 of "The Gun Digest Book of the Glock", author Patrick Sweeny states that the Glock's trigger safety was put into the design after extreme drop tests showed that, if the pistol was dropped from a sufficient height and impacted on the back of the slide, the trigger could cock the striker the rest of the way and release it.

If you do not like the Glock trigger than of course buy a SW MP or SD, I hear their dingles/dangles are more better.

As to XDs, shooting badly they will out shoot any MP or Block. Again if you don't like them buy a SW copy of a Glock.

PS: I do not like Glocks either I'll stay with my metal, hammer fired decocker guns like Sigs and CZ

Glock made their fortune by insuring that LEOs had Glocks. With that endorsement they just had to sit back and watch them sell.

They are great guns but between the trigger thing, the overall looks and the ergonomics it's not my fave. However, I would describe the looks as MENACING. If you want to scare someone away, pull out a Glock. You may never have to pull the trigger.:D

If you want to get an insight on Glocks from a non-enthusiast, get "Glock, The Rise of America's Gun", by Paul Barrett. Mr. Barrett is a business writer, and I find it fascinating. He doesn't get every little gun related detail correct, but it is a good job of research into the company and how it became as successful as it has.

Of course, the product has to good for that to happen.
 
I've never enjoyed shooting a Glock due to it's grip angle and it's lack of eye appeal for me. Also I never really understood the dangle/dongle trigger safety either.

However, I've had an XDM (9mm) for about three years and it's an amazingly fine shooter. It was very accurate out of the box and I had Springfield do a trigger job which made it even nicer. The dongle with the grip safety now "works" for me.

Today I'm a two dongle guy with the addition of a Beretta Nano. I "learned" how to like it a lot as well. Which just goes to show you that you're never too old to learn.

But don't hold your breath waiting on me to add a Glock to the collection. Just too damned ugly.
 
Glocks are ugly as sin, feel crappy in my hand and I hate the trigger pull. But as I've said before, I got a Glock 22 for two reasons. First of all, it was a barely used administrators gun from a LE agency. It was $300 for the gun, three magazines, and the Glock Armorer's manual. Second is, if I have to shoot someone at 3am coming through my door, it will go bang, Then when the police take it in evidence, I will still have my stainless .45ACP Combat Commander.:D
