Thoughts on getting older

my body is old
my mind is young
the things I used to do, my mind tells me I still can.
but when I rise to do, my body says set your *** down old man !

beautiful women used to be a challenge, I could not refuse
today when I see one, my heart leaps with joy
and my mind reminds me of the fun I had once, as a boy.

so now I set in my front porch rocker watching the world go by.
with my old dog daisy laying their peacefully at my side.
not able to enjoy the hunts, which were so vital in our past
put we can still lock up and point at a hot piece of ???

Save money on books. After a little while you forgot what ya read, and like reading a new one.
Same thing happens with movies. Watch a movie and 3 or 4 months later you forget and it's like watching a new movie .

I've always liked this quote from Gen. Douglas MacArthur:

"Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up interest wrinkles the soul. You are as young as your faith, as old as your doubt; as young as your self-confidence, as old as your fear; as young as your hope as old as your despair. In the central place of every heart there is a recording chamber. So long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer and courage, so long are you young. When your heart is covered with the snows of pessimism and the ice of cynicism, then, and then only, are you grown old. And then, indeed as the ballad says, you just fade away"

The best way to stay young is pick an age you like and stick with it. I will be forever 25. That's old enough to know better and young enough not to care! As for dying, HA! If I can't take it with me, I'm not going!

A group of guys were turning 40 together and decided to celebrate at the Restaurant by the Lake, because all the waitresses were hot.

When they turned 50, they decided to celebrate at the Restaurant by the Lake because it was near the golf course.

When they turned 60, they decided to celebrate at the Restaurant by the Lake because it had low-fat food on the menu.

When they turned 70, they decided to celebrate at the Restaurant by the Lake because it had good handicap parking.

When they turned 80, they decided to celebrate at the Restaurant by the Lake because they had never been there before.
