Our colleague's thread about getting older made me think about what it was like 70 or so years ago. So, if you got 'em, post those baby/little kid pics and tell the story if there is one.

I'll go first:

I was two. What great age! When wishing (and the right outfit) made it so. ;)

I'm the young one robbing the choo choo train cake. My dad's parents in the middle and mom and dad on the right.

6th grade (butch wax here too). Dad took me out of school at noon and we went to a game preserve. I've still got the .410 Stevens and dad's A5 Browning.

Dad and...me.
c. 1949.

"Crimson flames tied through my ears
Rollin' high and mighty traps
Pounced with fire on flaming roads
Using ideas as my maps
'We'll meet on edges, soon,' said I
Proud 'neath heated brow

Ah, but I was so much older then
I'm younger than that now."

Boot Camp

3. Fresh out of boot camp.

Looking good but one Q: How did you have all that hair after boot camp? Just before I graduated from Navy boot camp all of us got another buzz, almost right down to the scalp. That's one of the ways the crew knew we were boots upon arrival at our first duty station.

I was in company 319-62. Our first haircuts were clean right down to the skin. Each subsequent haircut was less and less drastic. Also in 1962 Navy boot camp at the NTC in San Diego, Ca was 16 weeks. I believe it was shortened up some at one point?

The reason why I don't wear hats!! :o

Eight months pregnant in 1969, with my youngest sister-in-law.

What's wrong with the hat?

It's period correct for '69. You'd have fit right in at the Fillmore.

If you wore it today, you'd be right at home at the Kentucky Derby. Matter of fact, that hat would look sort of tame compared to some other ones.

But you know what strikes me about the photo? It's that old style of studio photography from the sixties wherein the photographer has the subject(s) not look at the camera, instead having them look at some random point in space or a dot on the wall or something. Even though the subjects might be smiling, it makes me think they'd rather be doing almost anything else instead of sitting for a portrait. Used to see it a lot in bridal photography.

Anyway, you look good in the shot, and I like the hat. If I had that hat, I'd definitely use it in a photo shoot.

What was the occasion, by the way?

My passion for fishing has been lifelong.
Both pics are a lot younger me.:)

ETA: more younger fishing pics
