Thunder Ranch 325 on Walking Dead?

In a competing show on the syfi channel, Zombie Nation, there was one scene where they actually discussed the pros and cons of the .22 LR. Their story line was the .22 was great for being compact and able to carry a lot of ammunition, but it took two or three head shots to make a zombie drop in their tracks. Bottom line, the .22 LR is to much of a mouse gun for up-close zombie protection.
.

Even IF that was true, and I don't believe a 22 from a rifle can't penetrate a rotting zombie skull, the ammo is cheap, light to carry boatloads (my 4 year old insisted on carrying the Walmart bag last week with 975 rounds of 22 I was lucky to get), quiet, low recoil, and good for hunting small game to eat.

And Ricks .357 is way overkill. Don't know how he's finding so much of it. They could have the group find some 38 every now and then.

I enjoy the characters and some if the storyline, but the gun play drives me crazy.
They fire full auto as if they have a replenishable supply, hardly anyone really aims, they have new guns almost every episode, & many times the equipment isn't set up right or is just plain missing.
The AR the Governor picks up to massacre the remaining soldiers doesn't even have sights on it! Rick's Python holster isn't long enough for it's 6" barrel, everyone throws their empty handguns down when they're empty, I could go on...
As much as things like that drive me crazy, it's still a good show & I keep coming back for the characters.

I wonder if her barrel nut has loosened up yet. Mine did on my TRR8 after 120 rounds. Just got it back from Smith last week and after 200 more rounds all is good. It is an awesome gun!

They didn't say a .22 wouldn't stop a zombie. It will... eventually. It just not instantaneous. Ten or twenty seconds is a lifetime when a zombie is eating it's way up your arm. A .22 would probably be ideal for plinking zombies at 100 yds.

Wow you have really given this some serious thought! You might want to talk to the writers about this. The gun thing is usually an afterthought on these shows. You are making it the centerpiece.

Perhaps they should hire some of us as tech advisers? ;) I guess as much as anything else, I like the show and the detail they put into so much of the rest of the production values makes me want to see them get the weapons aspect of it "right" as well...

Yeah. Then we could see our favorite characters talking about canted barrels, the pros and cons of MIM vs. forged, and their opinion of the lock (spoiler alert.... HATED IT!).

The Talking Dead show after that episode would be riveting. They could have Roy Jinks on to discuss dash numbers and how the zombie apocalypses would impact S&W's new product introductions.

TWD world ........is the only place I'd opt for a brace of Glock 17s...LOL no soul but lots of bullets.........

Maggie would look real good in a Laura Croft double holster rig.

The .22lr thing I would at least explore ( what did Rick's son use on the prison loading dock to shoot beyond the wire?)......but a suppressed M4 would be real nice.

You'd think that they would have hit the sporting good stores for backpacks, good boots. camelbacks/filters and clothes....... but they seem to prefer old milk bottles and garbage bags..........
