Hey folks,

Just curious if anyone has a j frame, 5-shot 38/357 Ti cylinder they could caliper for OAL. I'd like to throw one in my Chief's Special just to take a couple oz off, but not sure if it will fit in the older cylinder window.

I know I could just buy a 360PD (and I may), but I like to tinker and think this pinned, stainless J frame would look awesome with a modern cylinder.

Not worried about accidental mag usage, because, well . . . I just won't. In fact, I may load up some mag cases to spl pressure to play with longer bullets and avoid leaded cylinders, etc. If I ever sell I'll replace the original SS cylinder.

I just did some light fitting of a Ti cylinder in my stainless 629 and love how it made the gun feel handier, but is still much more enjoyable with magnums than my 329PD. I'd like that same look/feel in a stainless J frame.

Anyway, thanks for the help and advice!

A titanium cylinder will not fit in your revolver

Titanium cylinders were introduced after the J-Magnum frame introduction. All J frames standardized on this new design sometime after 1996

The cylinder windows in this new frame are slightly longer to accommodate 357 Magnum ammunition

Not only that they changed the yoke tube dimensions

But, it might be possible to fit a yoke and cylinder with the face of the cylinder shaved off a bit after the barrel extension was cut as short as possible.

Reason I know this is
I have a model 36 and a 32 H&R cylinder from a magnum J frame tore apart on my bench right now trying to figure out how to make a steel framed 327 mag out of the pieces

Other projects keep jumping ahead of it as I have several J frame 3e H&Rs
