Bill:

Love the gun and the Rig - did you use the time machine for the rig as well, or is it of a newer vintage?

By the way, big thanks to RKmesa for sharing his Time Machine design so we could snag all these great pieces!

I have (2) pieces that I'd like to show in this thread... One "fairly" old, one... well, not so much.

First, my 1934 38/44 Heavy Duty.

The next one is "special" to me just because of "how ordinary" is is... It's a model 10-5 "snubbie" from 1968. How this pistol has remained virtually unfired for almost 50 years is amazing to me anyway...

December (?) 1943 Victory Model, Defense Supplies Corporation -- no U.S. military property marks -- a letter from Roy will confirm all this after he starts again. On to German municipal police service in Fűrth, Bavaria, after the war. A Department of the Air Force civilian employee bought it at a U.S. military Rod & Gun Club and brought it back to the USA in 1966. Appears to have been in a box in a dresser drawer for the last 50 years -- barrel looks like a mirror inside.
Congratulations! You have the nicest Military & Police Victory I have seen. While the markings on my Victory (Ser. No. V143XXX) appear identical to yours in the right side view, including no U.S. Military property markings (except, alas, for some cylinder wear on mine), I'm wondering about the left-side markings on yours, which mine lacks. Do these designate its trip to Germany? Please let us know what Roy says when you receive your letter. Thanks.

Thanks for that most kind opening line. I had a vendor at a gun show last weekend tell me it wasn't anything special; he had seen "stacks" of "New in the Box" Victory Models a week earlier at a Colorado show.

Mine still had cosmoline showing in several places when I got it, suggesting it had been packed in that lube/rust preventative for a period.

Yes, the proof marks and importer's logo (HEGE SCHW HALL) are German. Some believe they detract from collectability; I think they add to the intrigue.

I'm quite sure Roy's letter won't address the German marks, only where the gun went here in the US when it left the factory. I hope that opens a new door for me to pass through.... Yes, I'll certainly post those results.

Cheers,

Bob
